Commission and Mat leave

Hoping someone will be able to offer some wisdom!
I work for a smallish recruitment agency, my boss has told me that the only bonus I will be paid when I go on maternity leave (for the 6 weeks 90%), will be what i earned in the qualifying period. So essentially anything I earn from now (we are paid bonus 2 months in arrears) will not be paid to me as I’m going on mat leave 1 December.
This doesn’t really feel right? Has anyone been in a similar position?
I also work in recruitment and it completely depends on the company and their policy I believe. Legally they don’t have to pay you any bonus once you’re on leave I don’t think. My company used to just pay stat mat pay until around a year ago when they changed their internal policy x
