Maternity allowance

Thank god I’ve been waiting 4 weeks & got this message this morning, at least I know they have it. What worries me is they will send me their decision? Has anybody been refused? I’m relying on this to pay bills & have 2 months off work. Im a self employed dog walker and I’ve paid my taxes and national insurance for 7 years. I calculated I’ve paid more than enough national insurance. In a stress now 😫

Hi Sophie, I am employee but unfortunately I haven't worked enough to be entitled for maternity statutory. Where did you submit the application?

@Cassie if it helps it took them 3 weeks to send me this message since I sent off the forms. I included matb1 but nothing else. I’m just hoping I don’t have to wait another 4 weeks for a decision now. Don’t understand why it can’t be all online simple yes or no lol!!

@Ana I ordered the forms from gov website filled them in and posted them off with the free post envelope they provided. I’m not sure about employed but I’m self employed and worked full time for 7 years so I can’t imagine they can say I haven’t worked enough

Just about to do this I’m also self employed 🙏🏼

You will be fine! I'm self employed beauty therapist & qualified for the full amount. As long as you have been employed or self employed for 26 weeks in the 66 weeks before your due date you'll qualify. First they sent me a letter after 3 weeks to say I'd get £27 a week and needed to pay extra NI contributions to get full amount which was £40.95, once I did that I got another letter to say I'd get the full amount £172.48 a week.

@Marzy Elisabeth that’s amazing!! it’s been 4 weeks now & I’ve only had that text, I’m just hoping I hear from them soon as was relying on it for the end of this month 😂 some people hear back so quickly it’s so annoying xxx

@Sophie oh I would deffo ring them then and say you sent the form 4 weeks ago is there an update I'll post the number. Ahh its such a long process for some like with the letter they send you confirming your amount they also send you another form to send back to them when you have finished work confirming that you have finished work and want payments to start, that's the stage im at now, I finished & sent the letter a week ago but I hear they backdate the payments xxx
