Money rant

Hey girls sorry bit of a long winded one but I’m just soo upset, iv worked since I left school at 17 never claimed benefits, I currently only work part time 18hrs a week, before being pregnant I was managing but barely and I was planning upping my hours at work but now I’m pregnant and due in January I’m struggling on the days I do now so increasing my hours and days wouldn’t be great for me, anyway I have tried to apply for some extra help from the government, currently only earn 800 a month roughly im moving out soon, and this just isn’t enough to keep us afloat but according to the government I’m earning too much!? I applied for the best start grant and best start foods but because I’m not on benefits I’m not entitled! How is this fair? How come people who aren’t working are entitled to more help than those that are? I’m beginning to think I’d be better on benefits but I don’t want to leave my job iv worked soo hard to be qualified etc and I love my job and I’m proud of what I do I’m just soo upset that the government has no help for working people anyone else in the same boat or been in the same position before? Any advice?😞

Not quite in the same position but I have a disability and can't work due to that but entitled to nothing, had to sell my business and everything. We were told if my hubby left his job we would be eligible for at least 800 per month in benefits (UC, costs towards mortgage, he would be eligible for carers allowance etc) apparently I'm not disabled enough to claim adult disability payment. It's a blood joke! I feel your pain. Have youngot in touch with citizens advice or your local financial inclusion officer to see if you might be entitled to something as not all the calculators have everything on them. Good luck xo

You basically have to be earning nothing for them to consider helping you out to begin with, its ridiculous! Think once your on benefits and then take work they will help out but not if your already working.😪 Dunno why they penalise the working parent 😕 I also don't think they've changed the income amount to match all the inflation in the last 20 years 🙄 so no matter if you struggle pay check to pay check they will lump you in a bracket of "earning to much"

It’s soo sad you’d think they’d be all for keeping those who work in work but no wonder soo many people don’t bother when they’re better off financially, I’m not going to leave my job I’ll have to figure it out one way or another but it’s just such a let down especially when you pay taxes etc and you can’t even get help from anywhere soo disheartening x

How much does your partner earn if you don't mind cos once you've got ur own place, depending on what he earns, you could get uc. You'll get 100 a month Scottish child payment and then bout 90 a month child benefit and rhey don't rely on how much you earn x

@Stacie my partner is on pip atm because he’s going through cancer treatments, so he can’t work x

@Rachael soo sorry to hear that I hope your on the track to getting some help the system is totally messed up and soo unfair, I have nothing against anyone in Benefits at all infact I actually envy them now 😂 I just think how unfair that they’re soo willing to help those already getting money off the government yet those who work and have all these extra expenses get nothing xx

Contact citizens advice, I didn't know anything about benefits when I got pregnant and they really helped me with everything I should have been getting. You should be entitled to something but maybe not till you stop working. I was working 22hrs a week and I got the best start and foods so not sure why you wouldn't 🤔 my payments before maternity were nothing but then once my pay decreased it went up, I was earning between £1200 and £1500 a month before x
