Can I get pregnancy medicaid if I am unemployed?

Hello, I am currently pregnant and due in less than 4 months. My work just implemented a group insurance policy with a higher deductible and thay pays less for childbirth costs than the private plan I was on. Since my work now offers "affoedable" insurance I lost my govt subsidy, and could not afford to keep my good plan I had been on all year. We had paid my deductible so childbirth was going to be super low for us. Now with this new plan it is going to be over 5,000-6,000 more than we had anticipated and saved up. I was going to be leaving work after the birth anyway due to childcare costing more than we could afford so we will have to get a new plan with another new deductible immediately after birth. I am wondering if I could in theory quit work a month ish before I'm due so they could process my application and we would meet income requirements and then get pregnancy medicaid to give birth on. Does that sound possible? I just can't pull an extra almost 5,000 out of my ass anymore. This new policy really screwed me and my husband over. I'm so upset.

I am unemployed and got on Medicaid

Yehp!! And you get a year coverage for postpartum too. Also apply for WIC to help with your groceries. They cover pregnant women, children from birth to 5 years, and postpartum women for 6 months. But apply asap. Birth doesn't usually happen on schedule so you never know, and it can cost like $70,000+ if complications arise (I've seen this a lot). If you have a massive balance from the hospital (and the physician because they bill separately) you can usually set up a payment plan. BUT ASK FOR AN ITEMIZED BILL because they will sneak crazy shit in there if you don't. When you ask, the bill either magically gets smaller or you can personally make them remove fraudulent charges. Oh and you can also get CHIP (Medicaid) for the baby as soon as it's born. It covers basically all their routine care and more and they give you tons of benefits. Some Medicaid plans also offer moms free meals to help with the first week(s).

Absolutely! I am unemployed and got Medicaid as suggested by my midwife. She told me all sc pregnancies qualify!

@Alice that's wrong. I was denied based on having too much income :/

@Alice I heard this too and applied after this past. Was denied a week later. I will apply again next month when I leave work.
