Does anyone else feel guilty for doing basic things for yourself like showering and does anyone else’s partner make them feel like they can never get away bc you’re child always screams when you’re not there and you try to give them suggestions and they just say hurry and do whatever and get back out here bc they can’t deal with it but like you just need 30 minutes to shower or take a bath and relax instead of having to immediately go help him

Absolutely I feel so bad doing anything for myself even when he's napping I feel like I have to do something else around the house like I can't let myself relax

Trust me love it gets easier I used to feel this way. My little one is 16 months old trust me you’ll want those 30 minutes to yourself while your little one naps. Dishes, laundry, cleaning up can wait. Take time to yourself, pamper yourself, take a nap, have a coffee. I count down the minutes in my rough days for when he goes down for a nap so I can lay down in bed or have a quiet coffee. It does get easier. Don’t feel guilty if your dishes are piling up or your laundry hasn’t been cleaned and folded. I personally do the dishes before going to bed so I don’t wake up to a dirty kitchen or I get my partner to do them. It does get easier.

You can’t pour from an empty cup🩷 and your partner NEEDS to understand this. They have to find their own way to bond and sooth their child as you did.

If maternity showed me something is that you have to be okay in order for your family to be okay.
