Bonjour! We recently moved here from California and need to find a new pediatrician for our 16 month old. Does anyone recommend their Dr? Is there anything I should know about RAMQ? Do we have to wait a long time like trying to find a primary care doctor?

Good luck!
You have to register for a family doctor on RAMQ website.
While waiting (probably for a looooong time), you can try walking clinic.
You may be lucky and find a doctor that takes new patient. But it's hard.
Sorry, I have a family doctor, so I don't remember where to go.

Dr Reiter @ Clinique Médic Elle

She takes new consults from next week, you need a prescription. Write them an email! They answer fast

Hope that helps!

Merci! Is she accepting new patients?

Yes!

She told us last Thursday that she has free spots this week (as of yesterday)

I'm still trying to figure the system out. Is she covered by RAMQ?

How do you find the service at CME? All the reviews mention issues with the services there

We had a good experience. And you know, when you are happy with a service, you don't tell really. Unsatisfied patients will always complain and this is what you find on the internet

You can reach Dr Reiter best by email

We are covered by RAMQ and private health insurance. You might want to explain your case to the secretary (both works, phone and email) and she will be able to answer your questions in detail

Thanks Lena! 🥰

my sister-in-law is looking for a pediatrician for her daughters. She called but she needs a referral from another doctor. This is absurd because she doesn't have a doctor 😖

She can sign up at clinics for "minor emergencies" like bloom clinic on Côte des neiges

They might be able to give her a referral, I am not sure

CME told me that they can fast track it by making an appointment with one of their family doctors in order to get a referral for Dr. Reiter.

that's what the secretary told her, to call 811 and have an appointment with any doctor.

good to know, I will let her know 😊

they dont provide pediatricians for babies anymore. You need a referral because peds only see specialized cases (ie not a typically developing child) if there are no specific issues with your child then they get a family doc. I found this out when i was trying to get one for my child; totally ridiculous but its the govts solution to the lack of specialists 🙄 . I got my child in at tiny tots with Dr. Farhat which although is a family doctor is a clinic that does specialize in children only. Also covered by RAMQ and great service as of yet,

Yes, I have since learnt about the pediatrician situation in Quebec. Definitely not ideal, but I understand where it's coming from. The other thing I learned, is that the child vaccinations are not done at their Dr's clinic. You have to make a separate appointment with the CLSC
How is Dr Farhat? Is this the decarie location?

yes at decarie. We like her; shes very friendly answers my concerns and doesnt jump to medication. The clinic has also been great at creating side apts (and not just following the 2-4mth apts) because of specific concerns. Yes we also had to go with clsc tor vaccines, but they are pretty easy to book through clicsante.
