food allergy

i gave my son almond butter for the first time this week. obviously its mess because an infant is eating lol but he got red wherever the almond butter touched his skin on his face. no other symptoms. i gave it to him twice to be sure. should i keep giving it to him to build a tolerance? i will ask my pediatrician next week but want to see if anyones pediatrician has spoken to them about this or if anyone has read anything. tyia!

Definitely ask the pediatrician first. Even if you send a quick message on Monday morning. I hear that allergic reactions can get worse overtime and sometimes they take a couple of exposures before you get the big reaction.

For me, I go into anaphylactic shock when I eat tree nuts, so I always err on the side of caution when it comes to babies and allergies!

They say if a sensitivity occurs to pause that food for a couple weeks then try again

My baby got red hives on her face after a few foods. It looks more like a skin reaction cause she got red whatever the food touched her face and she didn’t have any other symptoms. The doctor told me it’s reasonably common for a skin reaction to occur. She said to wait and re-introduce in another 4-6 months and she may have outgrown it.
