Am I a bad mum if I want to take my child to central London for lunch with one of my friends? It’s a Saturday and decided to go to central for lunch with my friend.
So, my parents told me that I am selfish and it’s not right for a three year old to go to central London on a Saturday for more than 2hrs?
They said, I was out yesterday without my kid and today I should stay at home with the kid. I told them that I was out yesterday without the kid but today I want to take my son out so he can enjoy himself.
They keep telling me I am selfish because I go out to much. I told them I go out by myself once a week but the rest I’m at home with the child. Why can’t I take my son out with me on a Saturday?

wow that is crazy? How does that even make you selfish? Girl go out and enjoy yourself with your son 👏🏽

What’s wrong with central London??? I think kids should be out as much as possible to learn socialization and you said lunch it’s not like you’re dragging them about in the middle of the night smh…

Why does the child need to stay home? Is it unsafe? That would be the only logical reason. A child adds to your life, and should be included in your daily routine/ activities. It’s so important that our kids see us doing what makes us happy so they can model the same.

I know, I’m a single mother and I stay with my Parents. I have told them that I don’t go out by myself all the time I only go out once a week on my own. The other days I go uni so I study too so they look after the baby. So that’s why I consider to spend as much as time with my son. When I do go out once a week they also have a big deal of me going out because I leave the son with them and they can’t look after the son.
But today I wanted to go out and take my son with me but they even had a problem with me and my son going out….
My dad was like to me that I am not going to see a female friend I am going to see a guy and have sex with a guy on front of my son.
I found that really disgusting because he always makes these type of comments whenever I go out lol.

I would say the opposite! I feel bad if I DONT get out the house every day with my 3yo… and eww as if your dad said that 🤮

You’re not a bad mum at all. It’s good for the child to be out and see new things.
Please go and also maybe think about moving out? Seems like they just want to control you xx

No that’s crazy, go enjoy yourself lol

Noo!! Take them out! Most kids love going out and lunch Is a bonus!

Go out! Enjoy yourself! Your baby will also 100% enjoy being out more than staying in, or at least mine do

Craziness! Gone to London so many times with my boy, no different to anywhere else. Just make sure he’s hungry for lunch and some toys or books to keep them happy while you chat.
You’re welcome to go where you want with your child!

Thats out of order. You can take him out whenever you want and you should be allowed too just because you go out once a week, should affect you taking your son out aswell. And no that’s not being selfish. You do you, don’t let anyone till you otherwise. 😊💕
P.s: london is an nice amazing area, there’s so much to do and see explore while you can. x

What your dad said sounds really toxic. I’d be trying to remove myself from that situation asap. I know daughter would much prefer to be out and about and out for lunch stuck at home!

Oops. I used to take the train from Norwich to Morden regularly with a pushchair to see my parents. Dragged both kids round Battersea park, science museum, Tower of London, London Zoo ect. Ignore them. Actually I’m sure my parents have said similar although I think it’s more they want me to spend the time in their small two bed flat with them for the duration of our stay however autistic older son and small space not a good combination!

Sounds a very toxic situation.
As for your Dad's comment 🤢 vile.

The child is your responsibility not theirs, but that goes both ways you have the right to take your child out and they have the right to not look after your son if they don't want to every week.
Thats an awful thing for your dad to say

No, you’re not a bad mom at all 🙄🙄🙄 I don’t see any issue

If you still using buggy then yes it will be pleasure and happiness for him to explore and if he will get tired he got place to sleep and you be enjoying it too altogether you are a great mom to take him out good mother doesn't mean be home 24/7

I must be a shit mum as I take mine to festivals, we have late nights going to sit on a hill and eat burgers, go out to friends houses where there maybe drinking
No it’s not selfish, enjoy your lunch! They learn from experiences too :)

Reading between the lines maybe you need to ask them if they are still happy okay/ with how often they look after your LO as it seems like one of them mentioned you ALWAYS being out presumably the college timetable, then there's the additional day out alone, doesn't strike me as LDN being an issue but your dad doesn't trust you & thinks you'll go out n come bk pregnant or you're going to 'have your own fun' which is inappropriate for a baby to experience rather than a fun day out for both you and the baby but his words 🤦🏾♀️😡
Do you talk to them properly at all, as in besides the arguing and disagreements?

Kids are meant to come into your life, not the other way around. My daughter and I are out of the house for several hours very often and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. Good on you for involving her and not keeping yourself cooped up!

I would say you wanting to take your child with you is the complete opposite to you being selfish! Also, my almost 3 year old loves going into London so definitely go and enjoy yourselves!

Why is it selfish????

I bring my girl with me everywhere! Your lil one will let you know if it’s too much trust 💖

To be honest that’s stupid
I went out with my sisters to central London and their babies
We was out for more than 5+ hrs touring London.
Do your own thing girl!
You want what’s best for your child
Don’t keep them locked in
And even if it’s not with my siblings
I go out all the time to meet new moms wherever the location.
I went to Essex with my son via public transport to see my old work colleagues and I live in east London

I am so confused 😅. As someone who lives in London...go for it. Kids often thrive on new experiences.

They need to mind their business

I took my baby out to central London when he was 3 months old!

I would not be entertaining their comments. Parents are so bloody entitled to make comments or interfere when it’s not needed! You do what you want to do with your child!!! My baby is 5 months and sometimes I’ve been out all day with her! Why shouldn’t your son go and see London and enjoy a day out with you?

Ignore them
