What layers will you remove before putting baby in their car seat?

With the colder weather about to come, I just wondered what layers should be removed before little one goes in the car seat. Obviously snow seats etc are to be taken off but what are the thoughts about jumpers with hoods where baby is then laying on top of the hood?

I don’t put a cardigan or anything on my daughter in the car.

I just pop my LO in his car seat with whatever outfit he is wearing and then once fastened in, add a cosy blanket on top and a wee hat.

I wouldn't leave a wooly jumper, but I have left the thin ones.

Just their outfit and a blanket on top, would never put a jumper or coat on her until she gets out into the pushchair if it’s cold enough x

Coats and cardigans come off. Only the outfit they're in. And then add blanket if necessary and sometimes a hat

Just the outfit she’s wearing and a blanket on top once she’s buckled in. No hat as it could slide down their face.

I learnt the other day that babies shouldn't be in anything with hoods, no hats, and no thick cardigans or jumpers. I've learnt a lot since joining the car seat safety UK fb group x

My son goes in the car seat with his hoodie on sometimes I put it over the back of his head for comfort but I think it depends on how long your in the car for
