Emotional abuse

I think I’m starting to accept I’m in an emotionally abusive relationship and I feel broken. Our baby is only three months old and I think I need to leave asap to protect us. Has anyone been in a similar situation and managed to leave their partner? What happened regarding visitation/custody of your little one? I’m terrified of being without my baby. If you don’t mind sharing your survivor story, any advice is hugely appreciated 🙏🏼

(I live in England)

If you feel things are getting worse to a point your thinking of leaving id leave, your instincts are good enough to rely on and it's your body's way of telling you to leave ❤️

Also if DV is proven that will definitely go against him, but you may be offered contact centres etc for custody if it becomes an civil issue

I was in a similar situation but with an ex and managed to leave, so this was before being pregnant but I would definitely recommend filing a report with police and having a look at women’s aid for advice too! The police were helpful with me but I think they would’ve been more helpful if I reported it before leaving my ex!

Will his name go on BC? If he’s abusive ?

thank you Aimee ❤️ unfortunately from what I’ve read, it seems it’s hard to prove emotional DV

There’s so much support out there for DV, emotional abuse is taken just as serious as physical abuse, domestic abuse isn’t always physical. Download the app Hollyguard for safety. You have Live fear free, woman’s aid, National DA helpline, there’s a link on gov.uk that will sign post also. See if you can get advice from an IDVA and please contact council, they can help rehome you. Xx

that’s so sad to hear 😔 I won’t risk leaving without measures in place. Hopefully it’ll all be okay in the end

Contact your local domestic abuse support service or look for drops ins local to you. They’ll be able to advise with legal advise, support from police/counsellors/housing/benefits etc, with no pressure just whatever support you are after at that time
