So my LO has started lifting his head up all the time but whilst he does this, a strange soft lump appears above his abdomen... I'm a really anxious person and I think the worst. He also has a pea sized lump in his neck that the health visitor isn't concerned over but is keeping an eye.

Nooo that does not look normal to me, I don’t trust some health Vistors too, Please take him to A&E to see a doctor I hope it all goes well 🫶🏽

@Hods it isn't there when he is laying down, and it isn't hard or anything ?? X

I’d be getting a doctor to check that out, if you’re ever concerned it’s better to see someone I also wouldn’t go off what a health visitor says x

I would still get it checked for a peace of mind, but if you are not so worried then you know best as his mother x

I am really concerned I'm driving myself crazy though thinking am I being too anxious 😩

Pea size lump in the neck is his lymph nodes, they will go down, they will also flare up when sick just like ours.
The ab thing my first son had, have no idea what it is but he has no issues now and he’s 4, the drs weren’t concerned

It looks a bit like diastatis recti? If you look that up. I’m probably wrong but looked at the photo and it was my immediate thought. I had it during pregnancy when I tensed or sat up. Resolved by itself x

It’s probably just because the muscles in his abdomen aren’t very strong so they’re slightly separating (which can be normal and heal itself over a few years)
Speak to your doctor x

There was another post here earlier with similar and loads of mums said hernia or diastasis recti (they said their kids had it) and went away on its own, but you can always check with HV/GP.

My little girl has this too when lifting her head up HV said it’s a hernia? And GP also wasn’t concerned it isn’t there when she’s lying flat but when tense up it pops out I’m not overly concerned as I have had it checked out x

I would try not to worry yourself too much (easier said than done when being a parent) and I definitely do not think it warrants a trip to A&E, it is most likely Diastis Recti, my little boy was born with this and I questioned it when in the hospital the Paediatrician said it’s common and in babies it heals with time, but if my little one strains, you can also see his 😊 if your worried speak to the GP about it, they might be able to shed some light on it for you and reassure you xx

My daughter does this all the time and she doesn't have anything like that I'd be going straight to a&e.

People do realise A&E is accident and emergency right? Why not phone 111?

this is why A&Es are struggling daily😂😂

@Alice oh tell me about it! I've worked in A&E a few times and bloody he'll people definitely had have to meet a criteria to be seen by a doctor! Good majority that come could be seen by out of hours or the GP the next day 🤦🏼♀️

it really does not warrant a visit to A&E 🤦🏻♀️ and by people saying it , especially if you suffer from anxiety, will make you panic ! X

When I said to get checked I meant make a gps appointment x

yeah I’ve done a fair few shifts in there. Madness isn’t it

I do think a gp app could help give you peace of mind if nothing else! I’m not too sure what it could be!

Hi all! Turns out it's just a muscle lol x

bless him, glad you did get it checked and now you can not worry lol. Xx
