I have a two week old currently at home, sleeping. I noticed he has a bit of a stuffy nose. And sounds like he has congestion. Anything i can do to help?!! I am so worried. Hate having to wait until the morning to call the dr, and dont know if it is urgent enough to take him to the er.. but he is sleeping with his mouth open. So this tells me he is at least having issues breathing through his nose. Anyone else been through this and what did they do? I know calling the pediatrician is the best option. But i am inpatient and want to help my baby. Thank you!!

Totally normal! I work at a pediatric office and just had a little one who well be 2 weeks this Thursday I noticed some deep breathing and I took a video and sent it to the advise nurse and she said that’s it doesn’t sound like anything to worry about and it’s completely normal with newborns - here’s what she told me to do
1. Turn on the shower and make it hot and steamy > sit in the bathroom with little one for about 5-10 minutes.
2. Afterwards if you have an aspirator, aspirate little one’s nose (since you were just in the bathroom the steam will help loosen up anything that’s in their nose)

Yes, I was told this is normal too. Along with the above advice, we were told to use saline drops. Little Remedies.

Completely normal!! I just asked our pediatrician about this same issue. They recommended saline spray (we use little remedies) and to have a humidifier going at night.

My son sounds like a French bull dog when he breathes and the doctor said it is perfectly normal. He said it has to do with the length of their nasal passages, I guess they’re super long to accommodate eating essentially upside down at the breast.

All the above and if you go nose sucker route I strongly reccomend an electric one, saved my butt when my oldest got a cold last year and also the Oogie Bear nose picker sticks help get the boogers that you can't reach inside their nose. I know they sound gross but they work so well!
