scan for retained placenta.. how long should the wait be?
a week ago i went into maternity triage because i had lost a huge chunk of my placenta 3 weeks postpartum after a c-section. they prescribed antibiotics and sent me on my way to be contacted for a scan (to check if theres anything left) which of course retained placenta being quite an urgent issue assumed it would be days later. however they have given me one over a week later has anyone else had a retained placenta weeks later and how long did they take to do the scan? i’m worried that because they shouldn’t of left the placenta there in the first place (i will be making a complaint about medical negligence as overall my care has been shocking) they are giving me more time to pass anymore retained placenta so nothing shows on the scan to save their arses! oh and i took this piece of my placenta into triage and they happened to “misplace” it before the doctor could look at it…
since i have been back to triage once in which my doctor sent me in after them saying over the phone to her a scan would be done that day. i went in for them only to take bloods (no need im on antibiotics to prevent infection and quite clearly going to be anaemic) and say it would be a 2 hour wait for a doctor review of those bloods. i left because my newborn baby was not settling in the waiting room and those results surely they can just pass through to my doctor 🙄
the bleeding has only been getting heavier since and i really feel let down by this stupid NHS

So Im 4 weeks pp. I had a regular check up on my stitches as they popped open so 2 weeks ago I had them checked and got sent home to come back 2 weeks later - Thursday just been I went back and had some swabs. They found pus in my cervix so they took a swab and referred me to ultrasound scan to see if there is any retained tissue. Turns out I did have left over placenta and a high infection so I had to be admitted Friday in hospital for antibiotics via drip and surgery the next day - Saturday. I was put under general anesthesic and they removed the retained placenta and also restitched my stitches since they was opened so I'm currently recovering as we speak
I did not show any signs of infection prior to this so it would have been missed unless it was left and got worse. I'm glad the hospital finally got around to doing some swabs and checking everything correctly and now I'm on the way to recovery
Ps i found out when they delivered my placenta, it came out in pieces so I'm abit annoyed they did not even check to see if any was left over and just left me to it and obviously there was and I had infection
