Hi all! My baby is 8.5 months old, and she got a cold for the first time (thanks to my mil…). It all started with super runny nose, then slight fever. I managed to control the fever, but since last Sunday she has extremely congested nose and chest. She became more clingy of course, and wakes up at 4am every night crying until I get to sleep with her in her cot or give her calpol. I also think she is teething at the same time. For the past 2 days now, I can feel less congestion in her chest, but the nose is still the same 🤦♀️ now it’s yellowish discharge from nose.
We are using steminar cold nose spray, fridamum nose suction and calpol. Could someone please recommend when should I see the doctor? How long does the cold last in babies? Thank you!!

For a cold, they don't need to see a doctor. I took mine as suspected she might have an ear infection, GP advised they don't want to see them unless they have a fever that Calpol won't bring down, and that cold symptoms can drag on for weeks

Bless you my little girl is the same age and she's just started on week three of this cold :(!!! X

We are in week 3 of a cold for both of my girls! Week 2 was the worst as it came with a horrific cough. Unfortunately its just a case of plodding through and they will come out the other end eventually! Plus it does build up their immunity which isn't a bad thing :) xxx

I was in the same boat! I read on the NHS website that if they have had a cough for 2 weeks to contact the gp so I did. They were super lovely and said we could bring him in for peace of mind. They did a full body check and it was basically that he seems okay and he will slowly get over it but if I felt worried to contact them again or if he was still unwell by the end of the week to come back. He got over his cough on Thursday! But if you are ever concerned and they are not acting like themselves then best to get it checked if it's been a while. But you're doing everything right 💕
