Partner says stupid things

Ok, so my partner I have established has zero common sense and is pretty stupid!
Yesterday, he said something that I can't get out of my head!!!
He was playing with our 2 year old, and his beard brushed on her head, and she didn't like it. She ran to me and said "mummy daddy hurt."
I could see what had happened and just said "aww it's ok." My partner started saying
"Hey, we dont grass in this family."
"We're not grasses,"
I just looked at my partner and said, "Don't be silly and I said to my daughter, "we always tell the truth."
Nothing more was said, but I can't shake what stupid thing that was to say to a child.
My partner is on a 10 hour shift today, so I won't see him till later today, but I feel I need to say something when he calls.
I know I will get "stop being stupid."You're overprotective."
Am I right, though? Isn't it a stupid thing to say?
I over think everything but as a mother I think its natural!!!
I don't want our daughter not saying things and telling us things because her dad's told her not to be a grass 😡 I'm so angry at his stupidity!!!!!

You’re completely right, you want to establish a firm belief within your daughter that she can tell her parents everything. I’m sure he wasn’t thinking in the moment, but I’d definitely have another talk with him and explain that surely I’d someone did something to her at nursery/ school/ wherever he’d much rather she felt comfortable telling you guys than having doubts in her head about ‘grassing’ and keep quiet.
