My little guy's poop cycles have greatly changed in the last couple of weeks. At first it tapered down to once a day, which I've been told is normal, but I had been out of town and decided to start reintroducing formula on an as needed basis if I am out and don't have milk pumped.
He started skipping days, the longest I've kept track was 36hrs between bowel movements. The pediatrician recommended 1oz of prunes pureed in 1oz of water, which makes a thick pudding consistency. The first night I gave it to him in a syringe (total mess!). I waited a day but he didn't regulate so 2 days later I basically made smoothie of the 1oz of prunes in his 4oz bottle of milk, but it was so thick I had to water it down to 6oz total so he could drink it in a bottle (which he loved!).
I feel like an ounce of prunes daily or every other day is a bit much for just 11wk though. I made the pudding recipe to the pediatrician instructions, but I've only been adding about a tablespoon to his last bottle every day. I also started using gripe water to help with his gassiness, and hopefully have a positive effect on his regularity.
Any other moms dealing with a seemingly constipated baby? Has anyone else heard of giving prunes this small? And how were they given? Would prune juice be preferable to the solid fiber from the fruit? Ah! So many questions!

@Star mostly breast feed but I started supplementing formula as needed if I'm out/we have guests and I don't have pumped milk. I'm also trying to build a freezer stash for day care and weekends when my mom watches him, but I don't make a surplus amount to be able to feed and store away. Sometimes if I pump and he wakes soon after, he acts like he's not getting enough from the breast alone.

1oz prune juice twice a day

We formula feed with gentlease and started having slightly solid poops. Our ped said to try giving him a bottle of reguline a day and probiotic drops, worked like a charm. Most formulas still don't have probiotics in them unfortunately.

@Morgan thank you!
