I’m a single mom to a 4 month old whose dad left me while I was pregnant. I work full time and live at least an hour from all family and friends. I spend my days off doing a lot of activities outside of the house with my baby but when I’m home alone w him and need to get stuff done the only way is to put on shows for him. I feel so horrible about it because I keep seeing all this research about how bad it is for their development. He loves snuggling and interacting with me. I tried baby wearing but he only likes it on walks. Around the house he just screams and screams. I do my best to time chores with naps so I don’t put things on but I’ll be in the middle of showering and he just screams. Plus nap times are usually my only time to watch my shows. I try to give myself grace since I’m doing this all on my own but I don’t want him to have delays like the research warns…

First of all, you’re doing amazing! I certainly couldn’t cope in these circumstances and I still let my LO watch shows when I need to get things done. Give yourself some slack and do what works for you guys! As long as he’s not stuck in front of it all day/hours on end I wouldn’t be worrying 🤍 you’re smashing it.

Hey single mom here as well to a 4m. I just want to say you are doing a good job don’t overthink it someday you probably just need some time to yourself like a good shower or get some things done and it’s OK to let baby scream it is OK. Trust me your mental health and you taking care of yourself matters you have to take care of yourself in order to take care of your baby. Mental health is real especially after having a baby and you’re still trying to find yourself postpartum depression is real so you will need to take care of yourself promise me. I also just bought a Boppy for my four month old so she can sit up and watch hey bear which is a baby sensory show and her eyes have been locked to the TV for a while in the only time she will fusses if she’s pooping, or if she is hungry i am able to get things done you might find one at once upon a child. It was the best investment I have ever made. I’m able to get things done I’m able to take a quick shower, it’s gonna be all right!
