Swimming

Wanting to take my almost 4 month old swimming and will be going on my own, how do you all cope on your own? Is it easy? Do you take a float for your LO?

Being in the water itself is nice and easy , I don’t use a float personally.
The trickiest bit is changing afterwards - best advice I had was to strip them off and wrap in a towel so they don’t get cold , then you change so you don’t drip all over them, then dress baby last. It’s a bit tricky working out what to put where but gets easier! If there’s a family changing room that should help too x

I just hold her in the water and have a happy smiley face even when she gets splashed which is no longer an issue. I agree with @Nat in regards to changing i always take extra baby towels she has one for initially getting out the shower to wrap in, I strip her off drape the other one like a blanket over the top get dressed myself then get her all sorted with a nice warm hat now the weather is colder. She has the best nap after too! Another good tip is go in your swimsuit then it's just outer cloth to take off and baby to change when you arrive. I normally feed before and after swimming as she's usually starving!

I don’t use a float, for changing I have a towel dress for myself and babies towels on the pool side, I always have a bottle made up for when we’ve finished as the water makes them hungry! Also I change my little girl into a baby grow for ease and quickness and always take a hat so she doesn’t catch a chill xx

Just check how you get in and out of the pool. If there are steps you're fine but if it's ladders only it will be dangerous to get in and out whilst holding baby yourself x

I'm taking my 4 month old for the first time on Thursday. I found this YouTube vid which I will try and follow. I've bought a portable changing mat as I thought that would be useful in the changing room and at the side of the pool when on my own with him.

I guess it depends on the baby but id say just dont over think it! I packed loads off stuff and worried myself about him being cold or hungry but when we went there was nothing to it 😋 I got him dressed, went swimming, got him changed first then myself simple!
