I’m 24 weeks pregnant and I still smoke honestly I can go without smoking but they refuse to prescribe me zofran for the nausea so that’s the only thing that helps is the smoking

I stopped at 12 weeks... for me I just had to keep telling myself my baby's wellbeing and the fact that I don't want cps involved was more important. I quit cold turkey. It's hard at first but gets easier. Just remember u can go back to it later on.

yes that plays a big part as well why I smoke my morning sickness be on 1000 if I don’t and I barely have an appetite without and zofran doesn’t work for me at all I stopped taking them at 8 weeks

Avatar

Yea so maybe you can just stop at 30 weeks that’s what I tell myself

i have HG so i’ve smoked from 9-10 weeks pregnant until now… and i’ll be 18 weeks on tuesday. so don’t feel bad! there’s a ton of us out there who completely understand what you’re going through. i completely quit around 6-7 weeks when i was pregnant with my first. but this one? the sickness has been 15x worse. like 7 different prescriptions, one of them actually being zofran, and none of them worked. about 20 times in and out of the ER within literally a month. throwing up/dry heaving anywhere from 25-50 times a day/night! i couldn’t even drink a SIP of water. i lost 30lbs in just 8 weeks because of how sick i was!
but i came back to Michigan from Cali while my husband is deployed, was put on a whole new medication that lasts 2-3 days in your system and i’ve been a lot better! but i still smoke, mainly to help me sleep because i don’t sleep. i get a couple hours a night, but it’s all broken up of course. so i do it for that reason now that i’m not as sick.

It honestly depends on where you live. If you live in a state where mj is legal and you smoke of course cps will be involved if they test the baby and its in their system at birth BUT they will test a little later and if its not in their system they will close everything. If you stop 4-6 weeks before birth it wont be in the babys system. I cant lie i smoked with my son for the nausea and my ob knew i smoked. As long as the baby wasnt born with it they werent going to say anything.

The only thing that helped me stop was knowing i was living in a state where cps would take mine since it wasnt recreationally legal

They took me off my antidepressants and anxiety meds. I tried to stop using mj but the fact is it was the only thing that didn't make me feel like dying. I have cut back tremendously but... I just think there's worse things. I live in a legal state.

Hey there, sadly I don’t have any advice on quitting but just want to share with you, a book I’ve been reading called Expecting Better which breaks down a lot of data about pregnancy. On the smoking issue, it basically said that anytime you can stop smoking during pregnancy it’s going to be helpful for your baby. Like you haven’t waited too long, but quit as soon as you can!

If I were you I would seek out addiction specialists or therapists. And remember while not necessarily addictive in the same way, we’re all struggling with not having things we want during pregnancy- alcohol, hot baths, certain foods, all kinds of things. And we’re all trying to do our best. Also there were whole generations of people whose moms smoked while pregnant who made it through ok.

Hope you find the help you need! ♥️

Girl, I'm 15 weeks pregnant I have been smoking for 27 years. I did not plan to get pregnant, I did not think I could get pregnant. When I did it was definitely a huge surprise, a happy surprise but a huge one. I'm currently still smoking, I hate it, but it is so incredibly hard to quit I'm trying and it's truly devastating. I switched to a very low nicotine vape and I still crave crave crave a real cigarette every second of every day I would like to say the vape helps a little bit and does take the edge off a little bit but not really that much. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open ears!!

Oh wait y'all are talking about weed, I thought y'all were talking about cigarettes, lol. I quit smoking weed as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I have a medical marijuana card but CPS being involved and all is why I quit It was just easy for me It's the damn nicotine I can't get away from.

Its easier done than said actually. I stopped smoking cigarettes, weed, and drinking alcohol and I was a seasoned alcoholic. I weened myself off the week I found out and have been sober since 5 weeks pregnant. It's so much easier than you think it'll be. I still get intense cravings 11 weeks later and the first trimester was hellish with hormones and withdrawal symptoms combined but I feel so thankful I can exist without needing any form of substance to elevate or enhance my experience or take away this mental or physical symptom of whatever. I feel so free, I used to think I needed those things but in reality the things I needed were causing what I was trying to fix. Anxiety, depression, nausea, low energy, no social battery. That's just my journey though, I don't experience any of those things since being sober, for a while. Even with typical pregnancy symptoms I feel better now than I did before I got pregnant lol

Honestly I don’t see a problem with it if it’s under control just have to stop in good enough time before the birth .

But it is hard addiction to end & cope & do something positive with the emotions you have, finding new ways to cope goes hand and hand with raising the new life your bringing into the world.

I’ve definitely lowered my intake but at moments I just need it .. Also it’s plenty Health benefits, I’ve even researched drinking teas .

I’ve been smoking for the last 12 years. Check with the laws of your state, and rules of your dr office and delivery hospital. MOST places only drug test if there is a reason to. If you’ve been smoking for so long then at this point you probably act pretty normal while high right? IF SO, you should be fine love. I genuinely do not plan on stopping while I’m pregnant unless I find out they are going to test me at birth but I don’t think the state I’m in, can do so. I’ve been psychologically dependant on marijuana for at least 7 years now. It’s not something I’m comfortable giving up because it will stress my body out more if I’m not regulated. Idk how to help you to stop, but if you genuinely don’t want to, just see if you can find out if your dr office tests and if the hospital you’re delivering at does too. Call anonymously and see what they say. Most places legally cannot drug test pregnant women WITHOUT the consent of the pregnant mom. Just know your rules babe. Your baby is fine ❤️

Nicotine is going to have a way worse affect on a growing fetus than weed would. Ive done alot of research on this topic and spoken to mothers who have smoked while pregnant who saw no issue with development of baby. In fact, ive read quite a few studies showing zofran to have risks of causing heart defects! Id take weed over prescription meds all day!
