Holidays

Are you guys having company over for thanksgiving or going over to family’s house and for Christmas too? If I could I don’t want to spend any time with family for the holidays😭 I’m so scared of my infant (3month old) catching RSV since it’s flu/rsv season, I would love it to be just my bf and baby, but I know my bf will think I’m crazy. Do you guys think I’m overreacting? Do you think we’ll all be fine spending time with family for Halloween/thanksgiving/Christmas?

Nope. Not overreacting. My girl was born 6 weeks early and I'm terrified of her getting RSV. Even if family lived nearby I wouldn't feel comfortable with doing stuff during the holidays.

There's a new shot for babies for rsv. Hubby and I will get our flu shots ( thankfully, little buddy was born in June, not July.... So he can get a flu shot in December, he hits 6 months old at winter solstice ( he was a summer solstice baby 🥰) since 6 months is the youngest a child can get a flu shot)

We will likely have Thanksgiving at someone else's house ( no couches downstairs anymore), and have a two year old turkey that needs to get eaten that we may use 😯

Hii. It is sooo scary to think about how many disease our babies could get 😢. And I don’t feel that my Brazilian community understands that. 🙈

Be and I got our flu shots the past week and Bento will get his RSV shot the next Friday.

We got a message from the pediatrician saying that the RSV vaccine is approved for babies who were born after April. And the insurance will cover. 🙏🏻

the Brazilian community does not understand lol as a Brazilian myself I’m always second guessing if I’m being too cautious or not enough

I definitely don't think you're crazy, I work at a child development center and see kids getting it all the time and since my daughter also goes there I worry. It's okay to set boundaries with your family and others ( no kissing the baby, wash your hands before touching, etc) and they have to respect that because you are the parents

I am also Brazilian 😂 and I am terrified of my baby getting sick.

I have the same fears and it sucks because I don't think families understand and idk what to do! I guess we will end up going to celebrate with family but I'm not eager about it.

We took my September '21 baby out and about, but he was receiving Synagis because he was 4 weeks early. We got covid right around Thanksgiving because we got it from a funeral. The baby did the best of us all. 😅
We'll be going to events with our June 29th baby as well.

We currently live with his parents. They got rav shots ( both our sets of parents are seniors). Hubby and I will get flu shots. Little buddy can get rsv shot at his visit this month. He can get a flu shot in December at his 6 months visit
