Lease ends in December, need to move sooner
My lease is up in December but with the holidays around the corner I went ahead and started looking sooner so we weren’t trying to move when it’s freezing and near Christmas.
So went through the process, we’re approved but after we place our deposit to hold the unit we are expected to move within the next 30 days.
With that we would be paying 2 more months at the current place and 1.5 months at the new place 😣😖.
I don’t know how to go about this. I don’t know anyone who’s been in a similar situation to even know if there’s any other way to handle this. Do properties ever work with people on things like this? I’m not rich by any means so I’m stuck and just hoping someone has so helpful advice for me.

You can try to see if you can talk to either the leasing agents or the landlord to see if you can find someone yourself to take over your lease. Sometimes they’ll agree to that
someone else has said that to me too so that seems like the most common way out of this situations. Will I get in trouble I’ve I give them notice to leave before and move out in that time/still before my lease is up. I don’t really know the laws. I keep searching the internet and I seen that as an option. Don’t know how true it is.
I think it’s different for every place. Cause my husband says there’s people that were in his complex that would do that. But also some leases will say you can’t. Ours said if we wanted to move out before the lease was up we just had to pay x2 of rent. So maybe thoroughly read your lease!
We’re in the exact same boat. We’re moving next week and our current tenancy doesn’t end for another 6 weeks. We’ve made our letting agents aware and they’ve said they’ll try to find new tenants sooner but likeliness is we’ll have to pay rent for both 🥴 It’s such a tricky situation to be in because you’re expected to move in so quickly once you find something!
It’s nice they offered to find a tenant for you. This is definitely a learning lesson just something I had no clue about til now. I know other people in my neighborhood are also moving because of the rent increase so we went ahead and put down the deposit. A lot of people are probably going through this.
