Hope this is a safe space to ask, I know the vaccine topic is a sensitive one.
We just received an email from our pediatrician’s office saying that they have the ability to purchase the new injection for rsv (Beyfortus) and will order it based on demand. They say they feel safe recommending it after looking at available research.
I don’t know a way to do the proper research on it. Is there any websites you recommend to learn about it? Are any of you familiar with this vaccine? Will you have your baby get it? Why or why not?

I will personally be giving my baby the vaccine when it comes out, better safe than sorry. I don’t want to risk her being seriously sick

I’d be researching it especially if it’s new! My doctors office hasn’t told me about it yet

I personally don’t feel safe. I’d ask them for a copy of the insert and do research on the ingredients from that. Also look at the side effects of it. A lot of times babies are more likely to suffer from a side effect, an adverse reaction to an ingredient than they are to actually get the disease they’re being vaccinated against. Once vaccines are patented there aren’t any other test done on them and they don’t keep track of vaccine injuries either. But you do what feels comfortable for your home. There is no right or wrong.

You can Google the FDA insert for that vaccine and read the fine print. I’ve read others that state: “the efficacy of this vaccine is not known” and have abstained from that particular vaccine. It’ll list other details from trial studies that you might find informative.

Have you ever had a kid that got RSV? It’s horrific, and usually ends up in a hospital stay, and potentially a ventilator. We will be getting the vaccine.
