I was shocked and scared to proceed but I took a breathe and tried to find the facts behind this and as far as I’ve read and heard from blogs and posts, the damage to the baby is very unlikely. Can someone share your thoughts /advise if you have experienced the same during their pregnancy. I feel very guilty though it is unintentional I’m afraid of my baby.

Nurse here, very very unlikely to damage baby in any form. Drinking in excess is likely to cause damage when its daily and for prolonged periods. Most medication is very safe in pregnancy and baby is still a foetus without organs so there's no risk of it damaging anything like that just yet. Try not to worry. I had a hospital admission x2 with steroid courses which are technically dangerous and 3 weeks of antibiotics during my first trimester and baby is fine. Your doctor likely would have still prescribed these even if you knew you was pregnant as doctors have to weigh up risk/benefit, and its more beneficial for you to be well to grow little baby right :)

I think you’ll be okay! Week 4-5 I was in NYC with my husband and we drank a bunch (a couple drinks with lunch and with dinner every day, mostly beer or fun cocktails), and only found out I was pregnant when I got home from NY. I’m almost 12 weeks now and so far, no issues - doctor said it’s unlikely to have done any damage. It’s heavy drinking every single day for hours on end that could do it, she said. Like an alcoholic that can’t survive without the alcohol. But most of us don’t drink that heavily, even at what we perceive to be our heaviest amounts of drinking. I’m sure everything is alright!
