I really wish I could have an unassisted birth. Honestly, I have a fantasy about give birth like a raging animal on some mountain top with spirits playing war drums around me.
Alas, everyone thinks I’m insane and have convinced me to use a hospital. I explored birth centers but given I can and will advocate for my birth plan the only difference was that a birth center is more expensive and won’t be able to provide an epidural. The epidural is the only pro about a hospital birth in my eyes. Still, I’m planning to wait as long as I can and then go to the hospital. I secretly hope I’ll thug out the pain by myself in my tub and have my baby by myself, then go to the hospital to make sure we’re both okay. I just really don’t want anyone there for my birth…except my pets and my husband. I want to focus on me and my body and not listen to anyone or have anyone even look at me.
I don’t want a midwife, I don’t want a doctor, this is my first child and I just have this deep faith I can and will birth him just fine alone.
Anyone else feeling this way?

I am having a home birth and apart from monitoring the baby my midwife said she won't be in the room she will leave me and my partner alone to do it ourselves... just checking the babies HR periodically and only get involved if she feels something isn't progressing properly. Told me she'd be napping on my sofa. I love this that I can birth at home almost alone but with assurance of assistance if I need it... in regards to your pets she said they can react in different ways and can become annoying which in turn can slow your labour due to the stressing you you...
I do totally get where you're coming from though, I've thought about staying at home and giving birth alone if I didn't make it past the date the home birth midwife would come out to me...

I sooo wanted this option but my insurance was not covering it up front. Wishing you an amazing and safe home birth and healthy baby!

i wish lol but my husband is a germaphobe and has major anxiety about not being with professionals. I have discussed with my midwife and as long as everything goes well she will allow me to catch baby if i want to and my hospital allows water birth.

I had a birth center birth with my first and I’m so glad I ditched the OB after first trimester. It actually was way cheaper option but that isn’t why I did it. I didn’t like the care I was receiving and there were so many red flags when I asked questions about the way i would have been treated had I birthed in the hospital with them. The midwives gave me incredible support and care and my birth was beautiful and sacred. I was totally in my primal mind and it was an indescribable experience. Doing the same with this baby. You got this! I hope you have the most positive birth experience🤍

So I’m in California too and thought the home birth method would be to expensive because I didn’t think insurance would cover it. But my midwifery location gave me a lady that will bill insurance separate making it affordable, only thing is we have to pay the midwives out of pocket and then get reimbursed.

I’m having an unassisted home birth. Just me and my husband. None of my friends and family understand and they all want to talk us out of it, but nothing they say will convince me. We’ve done our research and know if something is wrong we can always go to the hospital then.
