Yes mine does and also has something called Laryngomalacia - there’s a really good Facebook group, perhaps this will help you. It’s really scary when they stop breathing so perhaps ask for an ENT referral. Sending you all the best and here if you want to ask anything else

My eldest son does, and we’ve been referred and he’s having his removed along with his tonsils now (no history of tonsillitis but apparently it’s linked). He was referred at 18 months and only just been seen to have them removed at 4

how has it been for you? It really is scary. I’m pushing for a ENT referral tomorrow I just hate the GP as I feel like they never listen!

Yes my son had that but I ended up having to go private as the nhs gave me an appointment for the ENT for a years time 🙄

He had enlarged adenoids, enlarged tonsils and glue ear. So had an ENT makeover!

The best thing you could do is go privately. I found out my son could only hear upto 30% because of the glue ear and his adenoids and tonsils were large even for an adult. They ended up taking out his adenoids, putting grommets in and shaving down his tonsils as they said it’s risky to cut the tonsils totally at his age as there was a risk of excessive bleeding in under 3 year olds.

My son has just been referred to ENT as he has glue ear and also mouth breaths / has pauses in his breathing. They said they wouldn’t have just referred him due to his history of tonsillitis as he’s so young but because he has the pauses in his breathing, they referred him. I suspect he has enlarged adenoids as he is always so nasally.

oh my goodness! 1 year wow! How much did it cost roughly? My partner has private healthcare so going to see if it covers dependents but will look into it to get it sorted quicker! I hope he’s ok now x

If you ask the GP to ‘expedite’ it you should get seen sooner. We have been back and forth but when we expedited it because of the sleep apnea (the night time sleep breathing) they fast tracked us

exactly the same! She breathes through her mouth a lot, it’s so worrying! She doesn’t get tonsillitis but shes had 2 ear infections !

Yes in lewisham they said the minimum wait is 52 weeks with the ENT department and my son had sleep apnea due to his breathing and the glue ear! So is ridiculous. They told me to just keep calling for a cancellation.

I’m with BUPA through my workplace. If you explain to them that you’ve been referred to the ENT but just want them to look into it due to his breathing it should be fine. They did say if it’s just sleep apnea my son wouldn’t be covered. So think you should push the breathing aspect. The consultant will know what to write if you say you’re insured anyway. Your partners one should cover dependents but if it doesn’t ask him to add it onto his policy. I added my son when I was on mat leave. Hope this helps!

thank you so much! It’s with AXA so will call them this week and see what they say. I’m really hoping it will get better as I’m struggling with 1-2 hour wakes up 😭 life as a mum! X
