I am having such a rough time dealing with my 2.5 y/o tantrums. He has this special ability to get on my F#^{ nerves but I try to remain calm.
He used to love going for walks and now he is back to “carry me” mode on. He is a big heavy dude so I can’t. He doesn’t listen, he shouts, and the worst part are the judging people on the street or the person that wants to check on him as if I am doing something horrible to him. The other day this mom with his 8 y/o came to us and she started talking to him (as if he has a clue of what his name is) saying stuff like: “are you ok? Do you need anything?” FFS she made me feel like I was trying to kidnap the boy. She never made eye contact with me until I told her to basically get lost.
Makes me feel frustrated and I failure as a mom because it seems like everyone I know has their business together. How to control a toddler?

We r all in the same boat hun. My LG looks all sweetness n light but can kick off like the devil is up her arse..lol yep ppl look and I'm sure they judge but honestly I don't care I've taken to just letting her get on with it now coz ur right they know how to push our buttons. Alot comes from frustration as they are still learning their feelings and how to control and manage them. Just breath n try not to feed into it. Today I took my LG to Chessington we were having a great day till she was told a small part of the softplay wasn't open the rest of it was but one little section wasn't so she went nuts kicking n screaming crying ppl were looking I just laughed n let her crack on after a few mins I pretended to run away n hide by the slide she thought it was super funny n got off the floor n chased me n the tantrum was all forgotten. That's what I do now let her vent for a min or two then distract. Maybe that will work for ur LO. X

Also if someone had a approached my LG I would've told the to back off I'm a good mum don't need anyone else's interference. Ur a good mum too don't let anyone ever make u feel less than that.

My almost 2 year old is just entering this phase. It's just the beginning and it's already getting to me. But I think sometimes he really needs it because after a tantrum, he heaves a big sigh of relief. Reminds me of the times when I need (and create) a big blow up 😂. It's funny, and tender, and frustrating all at the same time. What usually works for him is for me to take a few steps away, and silently and without showing much interest in him, wait it out. Sometimes it ends with a cuddle, sometimes with a distraction.
As for the parents talking directly to my little boy when he's having a tantrum.... I've had this many times. So far, all I can see is that they're trying to help by distracting him. I can't think why the parent of an 8 y/old would judge you. Any parents who've raised their own kids would understand and feel the pain of tantrums....
Every kid/parent/situation is different, but I hope some of this helps!
