This is my first pregnancy and I'm looking at laughing gas as an option instead of epidural

I’ve used happy gas for mine as I was having back labor . I would highly recommend it over epidural . It doesn’t get rid of the pain but it will help you breathe through the contraction 😁

It's a good option if you're not being induced & put on oxytocin/ pitocin. I found it to be helpful to an extent as the contractions on pitocin were really strong.
Remember to take deep breaths! You have to hear the hissing sound - that means you're getting the gas.

I was induced and it made me super super nauseous i ended up getting epidural at 9cm and best decision i ever made

i didn’t feel any different with the laughing gas 😩

I was using it at first, I was also having back labor and sunshine said above(I also have a back injury and the back labor was excruciating). It worked until they bumped up the pitocin then I had to get the epidural because I was screaming into the mask and had to intake so much of it it made me throw up. Which in turn broke my water. Then I was still in labor for another 13 hours because he still wasn't moving, which after a while all the water was gone and he started getting stressed.

My experience is I liked it until it wasn’t enough relief, which was several hours. I did not get pitocin, went into labor naturally and also had bad back labor pain. I went back and forth between taking a really warm bath and sitting on a birthing ball and doing laughing gas and having someone press on my lower back to counter the baby pressing on my spine. When labor became more painful even with those, I went with the shot that lasts a few hours I believe. I had that a few times and then eventually gave in to getting an epidural and finally got to sleep for the first time in about 2 days. I was probably 7-8 cm when I got the epidural.

Didn’t do a massive amount for the pain but was a good distraction & forced me to slow my breathing

If you’ve ever smoked weed it’s very similar to that. It just doesn’t last very long but it’s a really good option if you want to do an unmedicated birth. I was put on pitocin (contractions were on another lever) I labored for 36 hours I did 16 unmedicated with the laughing gas and it helped a lot. Like everyone has said it doesn’t make the pain go away but it eases your mind for sure.
