Omeprazole

Is 10mg the dose your baby needs ? Or are they on a lower dose and you need to decant some ? I personally would dissolve it prior to adding it to the milk (dissolve in cool boiled water), and if you’re unsure if your baby will finish the whole bottle give the omeprazole separately so you know they’ve had the full dose 😀

yes she needs 10mg to start with and we can increase to 15mg if still needed!
So dissolve and give via syringe would be the best way then? Thank you! X

I wouldnt mix with the milk as it needs to be jn their tummy before a feed (ideally 15 mins). We dissolve decant the dosage and give via syringe (hes on a million other meds so used to having syringes). It's the balls that are the bit they need and I've always found if the water is still slightly warm they don't beat stuck in the syringe.

oh ok thank you! Is there a specific amount of water it needs to be dissolved in? Why on Earth is this not on the instructions or why didn’t my GP tell me this 🙈 x

So we dissolve in 5ml of water and he has whatever dose the doctor says. Id maybe call the doctor and check what they want u to dissolve in especially if u up the dosage to 15mg as that won't be an easy dissolve and give the whole amount. X

the doctor gave me a handwritten note that says “ 10mg in 5ml water” so I’ll do that for a few days before we think about increasing the amount! Thanks for your help x
