BF baby and gaviscon

If Gaviscon is working that’s amazing! Omeprazole works too but it has so much more potential for side effects etc so would leave that as a final help! I’d suggest slowly mixing the Gaviscon with less and less milk over a few days so she can get used to the taste! We did this work omeprazole and it worked :)

It’s so difficult giving gaviscon to a BF baby! I know the instructions say water but I made it up with expressed breastmilk and gave it via syringe. It’s defo better for baby than Omeprazole and helps to actually keep the reflux down whereas Omeprazole just reduces stomach acidity so makes it less painful if it comes up.

You also might not need to give the full dose of x6 times a day, it’s a bit of trial and error x

My little man had Gaviscon from a bottle, 6 times a day, for 6 months, whilst being exclusively breastfed. I would get him latched on, feed him for 3 minutes, take him off, give him Gaviscon from a bottle, then latch him back on again. It didn't stop him wanting his milk!

We tried Omeprazole, too, but it didn't have any effect. Saying that, it depends on the cause of the reflux as to what will work.

did you mix gaviscon with water or expressed milk ? And did you use 12 sachets in a day?
How was your little one with constipation? Mine hasn’t not pooped for 2 days now !

We mixed with boiled water (slightly cooled) and shook it, rather than stirring it into a paste. We found it mixed best that way. We used 2 sachets each time (as soon as he was old enough for that dose) so, yes, 12 sachets each day. Constipation wasn't an issue. He still crapped like his guts gushed the Severn.
