My ex husband is in the reserves (went reserves after being active for 6 years) we were still married when he switched. Honestly, he's lazy that's why he switched.

Initially he said he didn’t go active cause he didn’t want the active lifestyle for us. We weren’t married at the time so we couldn’t live together. Now we are married and have kids and it’s pretty much the same reason. We want more stability for the kids. He is in a very active mos so if her were active duty he would never be home.

My husband is reserves, most ppl in our area are, he has a civilian job career and has been working on going higher up in both. Having responsibilities (house and all that comes with it and lack of daycare resources and him being gone impacting my job (I had to quit) if he choose to go in full time I made it clear we would have to move close by my family for support, which we do not live close by them

As a vet who used to be NG, I can say that it's to be home. AD can send you to different bases traveling all over. They could get stationed in Tokyo for all they know and they can't pick and choose. I wanted to go Active but then I met my hubby and I stayed NG so we wouldn't have to keep bouncing around
