Hello mommas!
Weāve recently rehome our third dog. Sheās an absolute dream. Weāre really lucky with all three tbh. We attend regular training classes with them.
Unfortunately my side of the family arenāt ādog peopleā. They donāt know weāre pregnant yet⦠but I feel like Iām already anticipating the negativity.
Did anyone experience negative comments about their fur babies?
Also, has anyone got 2 or 2+ dogs and can give me some positive advice/guidance.
Thanks in advance xx

Only have one doggo but have definitely had some negativity and even āwhen are you rehoming him thenā š¤¦š¼āāļøš³ never gonna happen. Just going to do some training of course š¬ crazy some peoples attitude towards animals x

My Mum and I had a HUGE falling out over our new pup - we were 6 months pregnant when we got him & she started acting like I was a 15 year old again. I had to really put my foot down and set boundaries with her because I wasnāt having it. Hold your ground, you know whatās right for you and your family š«¶š½

I have 5 dogs. š honestly itās nothing to be concerned about. We keep our dogs put up in crates and walk them regularly. Pets donāt dictate whether you can have a baby or not. Just keep your babies space separate for a while and slowly introduce your dogs to the baby by scent. Unless you have a dog that shows aggression, then consider rehoming.

I got a lot from my side of the family I found out I was pregnant and then ended up keeping one of my dogs pups (silly pregnancy idea) youāll always get that comment āhow you gonna copeā and I always say tbh I donāt know but I willš because mine are still very young dogs mum being 2 her pup being 6 months old and very playful so I do did and wonder how the hell am I gonna do this but alls I will say is if you get a negative comment brush it off let it go over your head best way to be cause at the end of the day you know what your doing is right xxx

Ignore them. Itās your home. We had 2 dogs when I got pregnant and 4 by the time I gave birth š my mom commented but at the same time she has a dog less home so I wasnāt surprised. Thereās not much to it just get them used to seeing baby things as you put them together etc. like I let the dogs hangout in the nursery while I put it together. Would turn on the swing so they would get used to seeing it move. When we brought our son home they were curious for a minute then didnāt care. They were more excited that we were home

I have a dog and 3 cats and Iām not worried at all. Theyāve all been around kids before and are very chill and low maintenance. My SIL has a monster dog who is incredibly poorly trained. Heās like 70lb, high energy, reactive, and jumps up on people. Itās been challenging for them with the new baby, but theyāre 4 months in and are still making it work and the dog has actually been better since the baby came. I figure if they can make it work with such a terror dog, than most people should have no problem at all.

We have 2 dogs and 4 cats, the cats have always known children to be arojnd (regularly have my nephew and my step daughter) and the dogs grew up from step daughter being a new bornā¦just be catious

Youāve all made me feel so much better! Theyāre all pretty well behaved anyway and they adore my niece/nephew. Weāre going to keep working in basic discipline (no jumping up, being calm when we have visitors, being calm in a separate space to us, enjoying time in their crates.)
Just to add to the chaos.. my fiancĆ© has sold his flat that weād been renting out. Iām selling my house and weāre looking at buying somewhere with slightly more downstairs space to support with giving the fur babies their own space š¤
Iām so excited!
