Forth Valley Royal (Falkirk)
Just wondering if anyone on here would be willing to share their experience of birth within this hospital?
I’m booked for c-section at 37 weeks due to Gestational Diabetes and Obstetric Cholestasis. I also suffer with anxiety and have had quite a few struggles with my mental health over the years. I’m wondering if anyone could tell me the likeliness of my partner being allowed to stay with me overnight following the birth of our baby? I keep seeing posts / information advising that partners are not allowed to stay overnight once baby has been born, and this is further heightening my anxiety as I’ll not cope without him there… 😔

As in Larbert? If so, yes he'll be allowed to stay. It's only on a chair in the ward so very uncomfortable but he can be there. I found the team absolutely fantastic. I was rushed in as I was 9cm when I arrived but they were so supportive and even my partner got some tea and toast! Good luck with everything!

I gave birth there in June. I was induced and hubby was allowed to stay even though the information leaflet said he would need to go home. I ended in an emergency c section and he was allowed to stay with me on the antenatal ward aswell, all the others on the ward were allowed their partners aswell. I had amazing care and can't fault them at all x
I was rushed here in 2021, already 10 cms and then had to have surgery afterwards. We stayed in a private room and the midwives said they weren't going to move me unless someone told them to so hubby could stay. It was the chair and I'd advise to take pillows but we had an amazing stay. I was supposed to have a c section but baby came early and my consultant was very reassuring and helpful because I was terrified.
I had my wee boy in June and had a very positive experience. He'd flipped to breech so my routine 40 week midwife appointment turned into a scan and an appointment the following morning for a section. I'd wanted a water hypnobirth so I was devastated and terrified! The staff recognised this and went out of their way to keep me calm and comfortable. Husband was allowed to stay with me, even during parts he shouldn't have been like my spinal. The anesthetist was so lovely. The ward was exceptionally busy and you could tell everyone working were at capacity, but everyone I dealt with was so calm, I don't know how they do it!! Totally in awe of them. My experience went from what could've been a terrifying one into a really relaxed one. Just keep the heid, make sure your partner also knows your wishes inside out so they can advocate for you if they need to, and enjoy those new baby cuddles x

I had a planned c-section at forth valley hospital on Monday just there at 40+6. The team were amazing. The anaesthetic people were brilliant at keeping me calm and relaxed and all the midwives were fabulous. I felt no pressure at all, and my views were always listened to and respected. Doctors were wonderful too. I had such a calm, relaxing birth I honestly couldn’t recommend them enough.
I had my first at forth valley hospital too, she was spontaneously here at 35+2. I was 9cm dilated when I got to hospital and had a positive birth experience. Team were great in all aspects of my care.

I came across this post as I’ve just moved to the Forth Valley area. I was wondering for the mums who had an elective/planned c section at FVRH how much in advance do they tell you the date? X
I went in for a scan to check if he was still breech on the Monday, was given my date after a few hours of checks for the Wednesday so 2 days later x
