It has been one of the best decisions of my life. I’m going on 6 years now & never felt better. Feel free to ask any questions✨btw im VERY sexually active lol

Besides my low sex drive to begin, my depression doesn’t help I know, but I’m wondering (after reading some stories) of my birth control is the culprit to tanking what little drive or desire for sex I had (I have Mirena iud). Depo was great for me as a teen/twenties, but then my thirties I tried it again and I gained over ten pounds so I don’t want to chance the weight gain with it again. But I hate my period, so I’m torn!
Also, if you’re sexually active, what do you do to not get pregnant?

Avatar

Contraception free for about 6 years now 🙂

Avatar

I did the depot for years as a teen also ! Then IUD then nothing lol I used to have PCOS symptoms HEAVY problems with my hair skin and nails, acne, irregular periods or none at all. Pain during sex & randomly during the day. I just never felt like myself and deep down inside always felt like something was off. that feeling never went away until I took it out of my body.

Oh! PULLING OUT. that’s it. That’s been my only birth control for the past six years. It’s easier when you are in serious committed relationships and they feel blessed to be with you, so they actually respect your boundaries when it comes to your body. Plus it FUCKS with your PH. I honestly feel like the norm should be for men not to be cumming inside everybody they have sex with instead of women going on hormone altering drugs to correct them

Avatar

& I hate condoms. I think most men can do it, they just choose not to or aren’t being firmly asked?

Avatar

Contraception free my entire life ! I became sexually active at 15 , currently carrying my first child with my fiancé at 27. I’ve been very sexually active pretty much since I started , I’ve always tracked hormonally . I regret nothing I thing birth control is a great option for some people , personally I am very anti for myself . I think it’s a huge cause for infertility, as well as a huge cause for depression/ weight gain/ hormonal imbalance in general, etc

Avatar

love that ! & I Totally agree. what did you do to not get pregnant before you wanted to ?

Avatar

Do you avoid sex around what you think is the fertile window? Or just pulling out? To can I ask please if your pregnancy was planned?

Avatar

I have insomnia and I think this may be why! But I've taken it for so so long, before I had these issues

Avatar

our society has made it normal to fuck with the hormones of women and it can lead to so many problems, emotionally mentally physically, so you are not wrong for feeling a little off. & just pulling out btw I elaborate more on the comments above love

I’ve NEVER been on birth control. I’m 46 with 3 kids and I’m not about to start with it now.

Avatar

I map my periods and ovulation carefully. I've been birth control free since 2018 and haven't been pregnant until we wanted to be ♥️

Avatar

I have never used any form of contraception, two kids that were both planned. Husbands pull out game 👌🏾
Have only taken notice of my periods and ovulation when trying for my second.

Avatar

So many questions.... my hormonal BC is screwing up my entire life!!!

Avatar

I've been about 4 years without and never again

Avatar

When I was a teen I started on the pill because of debilitating cramps, irregular, heavy and just all around terrible periods. I would also get ovarian cysts. The bc helped with all of it. I was fine, came off it just to take a break and 2 weeks later I got pregnant. I didn't think it'd happen because people always say it took a while when they stopped. Anyway, after having my daughter I swear my body fixed itself, I had regular periods with almost no cramping. I was bc free for 3 years and then we started trying for another. Haven't gotten my period back yet but hopefully it stays good.

I wanted to be free from birth control. As I had gone without for 4 years with hopes of getting pregnant and was unsuccessful. Got used to being BC free and the idea of not getting pregnant that 1 year post weight loss surgery (this is what helped me conceive) and leaving my ex husband who I found out was 80% the reason for not getting pregnant (he was a heavy drug user in the past), I was unknowingly fertile around the 3rd sexual encounter with my now fiancé. We have an almost 1 year old son and my tubes are tied to prevent anymore accident babies 😂

Avatar

Oh jeez! 🙆‍♀️
I just got myself on the waiting list for IUD and seems like everywhere I turn recently, there are people talking about how these contraceptions are not all that helping! 😩
Gosh! 🤦

Just beyond scared that I could get pregnant any moment as my cycle is irregular and very hard to know correct fertility window 😢!

I really don't want to get pregnant soon without proper planning as my first baby (who I adore and love like my life depends on her) came at a point when I was involved in a major life decision and had to struggle a great deal to balance pregnancy and all! 😢

I never really had plans of getting any contraception , but I don't know if I should trust my partner with the withdrawal method 😢

Avatar

honestly pulling out . I’m very allergic to all condoms . They give me horrible yeast infections . When I was younger I did use them before I realized they were the cause of all the yeast infections . I tracked everything through an app called clue

Avatar

since I didn’t use condoms I tracked everything thru an app called clue . I must admit I always had doubts if it worked cuz for years I did think I was infertile , I always thought no way pull out game worked this good . But I didn’t have sex during my tracked fertile windows , I would avoid those weeks religiously and the app I used was very spot on because once I became engaged after 5 years with my fiancé we talked and I was like yea we can have some fun and see what happens . 4 months later and bam 💥 lol got a bun in the oven . During that time I wasn’t looking at my app that often , didn’t really care for my fertile window anymore and when I tested positive I went to my app and it was right spot on with my fertile window for the day we had sex . So I must say the apps work very well

Avatar

Contraception 2 years now, and will never look back. After some time my body was rejecting the pill, and then the iud so I just got it out and tracked my cycle. Successfully tracked and conceived my baby exactly in my estimated ovulation day. Now my cycle is returning to regular 10 month pp and will continue tracking 🙂

Avatar

Never took birth control 6 years with my man and we just had a baby this May and we’re always very sexually actively

Avatar

I got pregnant on mirena and miscarried. Depo made me bleed out. Hormonal bc literally turns me into a psycho and so did the mini-bc with lower hormone levels. Considered nexplanon until I looked into it and decided against it. Have been considering the copper iud until I looked into them more but a big nope on that. Otherwise we don’t use anything other than a condom here and there when my partner wants to.

Avatar

Love this dialogue! Birth control is definitely not designed for women wellness . My ancestors used tracking and plants to prevent pregnancy. Many women are having success with it so let’s talk about how to do these the right way!

Avatar

I went off birth control when I was 19 because me and my long term boyfriend at the time broke up. Never went back on it. Only got pregnant the one time we tried so I feel like not being on it didn't change anything. We use condoms when we're not trying for a baby.

Avatar

I'm all ears for suggestions. Currently torn between having an IUD or not.

Never been on any my whole life 😩

Avatar

6 years we consistently did fertility awareness method .
.
Take your temperature and get the window you use condoms down to a science. Have your husband get the Ovia app and monitor it; it creates intimacy and involvement. He was determined to get that window down to just 5 days!
.
After about 6 months, you’ll be using the condom for the last 3-5 min and you’ll be an absolute pro. DO NOT rely on pulling out.
.
We conceived within 3 months of trying and we are OLD - 36 and 42.

Avatar

I'm 25 and never taken it

Avatar

About 7 years birth control free love it never going back

Avatar

Birth control caused a lot of issues for me, years not on it have been the best

Avatar

I stopped birth control when my daughter was about 1yrs old the pill made me super sick and bloated and the mirena iud got lodged in my uterus sideways so they actually ripped it out of me at a regular office with just Ativan. I begged them to take it out for months and told them something was wrong smh.

Avatar

I’ve actually heard this before from a doctor. Before my baby I’ve had very irregular , long cycles with cystic acne . No period for a few months before I got pregnant too. Now I’ve had them back for 3 months and without fail I get my period every 4 weeks exactly . They are very heavy though

Avatar

mine were 9 days (I didn't know more than 7 isn't normal) and very heavy for the first 3-4 days and got progressively lighter. After my daughter they were maybe 4-7 days and light. It was better than when I was on bc lol
