This is a bit of a random one but I’m fascinated to hear other peoples opinions…
For one reason or another (mostly geographical reasons) my friendships have slowly dwindled over the years.
However, I have always remained close to my oldest friend, we’ve been friends for 20 years.
I’m really hurt that she never ever asks about my son. Ever. We’ll meet up for drinks every couple of months and we’ll spend most of the evening talking about her life and her various dramas (most of them self inflicted) and she not once asks me or even acknowledges that I have a two year old son, she never asks me about my husband either.
It hurts me but I don’t know if I’m over reacting.
She’s not maternal and has never wanted kids but would it really kill her just to ask once how my child is doing?
I’d love to hear what other people think about this…

I have school friends who don't have children and aren't interested in them or having them, they never ask... its not that they don't care, it just doesn't occur to them because their so caught up in their own lives. I wouldnt take it too personally, that's just how they are... one actually loves her cat like a child 😆
If you want her to ask offer up info but otherwise I'd just accept her how she is, some ppl are just like that x

If your friend doesn’t have children she will have no idea just how much your life has changed in the last 2 years. I know it’s difficult, but I wouldn’t be offended if she doesn’t ask about your little boy, it’s just not on her agenda. I would just enjoy the drink and child free chat x x
