Stopped tummy time

My daughter has always hated tummy time. I’ve tried everything to make it more comfortable and she just hates it. I’ve stopped all together. She sits unasssisted very well but now I’m terrified she won’t crawl. Did I mess my baby up? She will be 8 months the 24th if this month

I don’t think you “messed her up” but tummy time is very important whether it’s on the floor or her laying on your belly. Atleast 5-10 mins like three times a day is crucial for not only crawling but their neck muscles. Have you tried laying her on your chest/tummy? Maybe you can keep her distracted that way long enough to get her through it.

My daughter rarely did tummy time. Not because she hated it, but because she would just keep rolling over. I worked on sitting more since her head control was good. She sat up unassisted before she crawled and currently she’s standing up unassisted.

Just because your baby doesn’t do things “in order” doesn’t mean something will be wrong. As long as you continue to work on all movements and muscle strength

My baby hated so I just did it in modified ways but no official tummy time, and my baby just started crawling. She will learn.

My daughter hates belly time. For her to be okay I have to be on the floor entertaining her directly. Always have. So I do that for 10-15 min 3 times a day. Now at 8m it's either that or brother running around like crazy that keeps her from fussing. Occasionally I can get 2-3 min of she's engaged with toys.

if it makes you feel any better i rarely did actual tummy time with my son. i mostly would lay him on my chest and that’s a form of tummy time that he actually enjoyed. as long as you don’t have her on her back all day i’m sure she’ll be okay!

Our daughter hated tummy time and fought it like crazy until about two weeks ago and then it just clicked for her. We never did much tummy time because she would scream or just roll out of it no matter how or where we tried it.

I will say we were desperate to get some positive tummy time and bought the "crawligator" second hand. Not sure if it helped but it is fun to whiz her around on!

Dont worry kids do their thing at their own pace

I use to put my kid on chest and he would look at me and learnt to lift head and also burping on shoulder helped him learn lifting head

I physically cannot get my son to do tummy time anymore. He learned to roll and that was it haha. He bails out the second he's on his tummy now. His head control is perfect, he sits unassisted, does side sitting, and is constantly going from sitting onto his knees and hands, pulling himself up on his knees, and sometimes into a standing position. He's so close to crawling but hasn't quite figured it out yet because every time he slides from his hands and knees down onto his tummy he gets frustrated and just rolls over onto his back.

I've been worrying lots that the lack of tummy time is inhibiting his development for crawling, but everyone I've talked to says he's just fine, and babies figure things out at their own pace. So I'd say, as long as your baby is reaching other milestones and is still active in other ways, they'll be fine!
