Weaning

So I have a question when did you all start weaning your baby’s? My son is 4Months and he seems too be extremely hungry and I’ve tried him on hungrier baby but it made him even worse! His on 8/9Ounces every 4hours but had a phase where it was every 3hours! Would you say his ready to start weaning?

My little one is exactly the same! No matter how much I give her or formula she’s still hungry after!! I’ve bought the Ella’s kitchen fruit pouches and the baby rice. She can’t sit up by herself yet but has such good head control when we sat her in her high chair that I might start giving her some soon. If he can keep his head up in a high chair or something I’d say go for it!

he can definitely keep his head up as well as his very good at shouting, I just weren’t sure if it might of been too early but he just seems more hungry even after his bottle x

That’s good then I’d say go for it… the pouches and baby rice I bought are from 4 months+ the rice is meant to be good! Not sure if baby porridge is from 4 months but all supermarkets sell the baby rice, my little girl literally sits watching me eat and opens her mouth when I do 🙈 she’s even grabbed food off of my plate 😂xx

I’ve just searched it up& 3 signs they are ready to start weaning: 1- Chewing There Fists, 2- Waking When Normally Sleep Through The Night, 3-Demanding More Milk xx

That’s exactly what my little girl does, so I’d say she’s more than ready to start! When she hits 6 months is when I’m going to introduce solids but for now the fruit and veg pouches and rice etc seem really good x

I posted something similar the other day and got judged for it 😩 but I’d say you know your baby more than anyone. If you feel like he is ready he probably is! I have known babies to successfully wean at 4 months with no issues what so ever.

you should never get judged for asking for peoples opinions! I’m sure I’ll get judged but I don’t care I only wanted advice anyway xx

@Lou those are the "commonly mistaken" ones. The NHS says:

They'll be able to:

stay in a sitting position and hold their head steady

co-ordinate their eyes, hands and mouth so they can look at the food, pick it up and put it in their mouth by themselves

swallow food (rather than spit it back out)

The following behaviours can be mistaken by parents as signs that their baby is ready for solid foods:

chewing their fists

waking up in the night (more than usual)

wanting extra milk feeds

Either way - you know your baby best and if you feel they are ready then they probably are. Have you looked at doing a weaning course? There's quite a few free ones online. Ella's Kitchen also does a free weaning guide

ok thank you, I should know better than too search up things on the internet x

Not here to judge but like Birgit said they're the mistaken signs, milk is still their main food source for the first 12 months but if you're on TikTok you should search Moon and Rue as she just did a video on ideal starter foods to help rule out any allergies.

I weaned my baby girl at 16 weeks xx

hey, just something that my HV advised me. She said that with weaning start with vegetables as if you introduce sweet first they won't take to savoury. Something to do with their taste buds.

I haven't tried yet but considering starting soon.

My LG did the same at that age I started weening her and it was fine x but she could hold her head up and showed an interest to food aswell and showed signs that she was ready x as long As you think he’s ready then I say go for it x

Avatar

I started my LG at 4 months as milk wasn't filling her and it helped her loads with reflux also my HV gave me the go ahead she now 2 and half my HV told me to stick to baby rice and fruit and veg pouches until 6 months, however with my little boy I'm waiting until 6 months
