Stitches after tearing

I’m now almost 5 weeks pp and have finally had a look down there to see the stitching. I had a second degree tear and also tore my inner labia. The midwife decided not to stitch the labia but said I needed to keep parting them so they didn’t heal together. I thought I’d done this well but after looking it seems they have healed together and are now covering part of my vaginal opening which is probably going to cause some discomfort when I become sexually active again. It also looks so uneven where they’ve stitched me and almost looks like part of my vaginal canal has turned outside if that even makes sense 😂

I can’t request to be re-stitched can I? I know it sounds silly but I think somethings not right and can’t understand why nobody checks the stitches after birth unless you ask. Would I just tell the GP?

Oh no! I’m sorry you’re going through this. I also had a 2nd degree and I’m super worried about how mine is healing too, I’m 3w pp. You won’t be able to get restitched unfortunately. If something is really wrong, I would pursue legal action against the provider that stitched you. There is no reason it should be uneven or as you described! That’s medical malpractice. I’m also from the US so it might be different if you’re not in the states, but that’s definitely something you can pursue here, especially if it causes you issues with sex in the future. Are you going to see your provider at 6 weeks? I’d tell them your concerns before they have a look so they know you are worried. Make sure if there is an issue, you request them to put it in your chart so that you have a paper trail!
