I've just recently learned that there are really just five brands that follow the WSAVA guidelines, so those are what I would recommend: Purina, Iams, Hill's, Eukanuba, and Royal Canin.

From a personal standpoint, I've been switching my dogs from Solid Gold to Purina and I have been floored by the changes I'm seeing in energy and coat quality. I was totally skeptical, but experiencing it first-hand really helped confirm what I was reading.

And please do not use Dog Food Advisor as a guide. It turns out that the person running it has zero qualifications for canine nutrition, as he is a (human) dentist.

What kind of dog do u have?

Both of my dogs (2yo American Bully & 9m frenchie) love Ollie. We’ve used ollie for 2 years and there hasn’t been any trouble.

Hills science diet is always good and the vet uses them , it is pretty expensive though.

We are trying Costco. 35 for 40 lbs. just be sure to get the chicken or lamb rice and veg. Avoid the grain free ones.

We do Just Food for Dogs, which is fresh cooked food, too. It helped our overweight pitbull shed some extra pounds!

How large is your dog?

Diamond dog food. Our pet dogs are on Purina beneful healthy weight.... But our employee dog is on diamond pro 89

( she's a 2 year old great Pyrenees 😁.... Solid 78 pounds of dog)

Wholehearted is THE BEST dog food I have been able to find, a lot of brands you’d think are good like Blue Buffalo are actually not great for your dog at all. Wholehearted is not too expensive at all and it’s great, my dog had a lot of skin issues before I switched to wholehearted and ever since I switched has not had any health problems. It’s sold only at Petco!

We are using Spot and Tango unkibble, its pretty high quality I think but it’s not that much cheaper though. We used Ollie before (similar to Farmers dog) we loved it! Changed to unkibble because it’s easier for us!
