Thoughts how should I go about. I’ve been at this job for a little over a month now should I do it in writing on face to face

You are NOT required to tell them at all. They have pregnancy discrimination acts (PDA) but a lot of jobs tend to find loops holes around it to try and get rid of employees and they aren’t allowed to hint at you being pregnant or ask if you are its illegal.

Hi! I live in the DMV too by the way! 😋
I would say tell them so that you can (if they offer it) plan your maternity leave! If you are worried about how they will react since you didn’t tell them before I would just say that you didn’t feel comfortable telling anyone before 20 weeks incase of a miscarriage. Even though it’s none of their business really. But that’s probably what I would say! I would probably do it face-to-face.
yes I’m in dc in the handbook it states maternity leave for 2 weeks for employees who been there under a year which I think is absolute bs. Ik I won’t qualify for fmla but think I should be good with paid family leave. Just a little afraid to how they would react since in the interview they asked what can ensure that I would stay with the company since I switched jobs a lot. However I’m looking to go back to my position now once leave is done since it has great benefits

Yeah, I think not giving all employees maternity leave is ridiculous and shows that they don’t trust their employees to stick around! Are you planning on staying with this job? If you are, I would just reassure them that you enjoy what you are doing there and don’t plan on leaving despite the pregnancy. Pregnant doesn’t have to equal quitting. I hate how employers view pregnancy..

Do you work for the state? If you do you should be able to get fmla..
no I work for a school, I haven’t been there for 12 months so unfortunately I don’t qualify for fmla. I may qualify for std though I’m not sure still looking things up, I’m preparation of talking to my manager about it
