Question

I wanna ask for advice is it okay if I can stop giving my 10 month old son formula? And like give juice or tea (warm tea) as he has been drinking milk since birth

I would personally wait until he’s 1 or older, that’s what’s recommended by NHS, Juice isn’t recommended under 1 as it’s full of sugar, could you try cows milk when he turns 1?X

As others have said, cows milk as a drink after 1.
Juice won’t have the nutrients they need. If they need a drink water is fine as long as they are getting enough formula.
They also shouldn’t have the caffeine in tea and have heard the tannins in tea can lower their iron levels.

Please don't give juice, it's so bad for their teeth🦷 we see far too many toddlers needing full mouth extractions because of things like this.
It's also very important to keep giving formula/breastmilk until they are 1 as it is their main sorce of nutrition until then.

What kind of milk has he been drinking? Like while milk or breast milk? At this age you can still do milk I guess because it’s close to one but if it’s a whole milk it definitely should not have been introduced until close to now and only a little bit here and there. If you don’t breastfeed or pump then you need to still give formula until 1. Juice definitely shouldn’t be the thing they drink all the time. It can be a fun little addition to some meal but not a replacement for a bottle of water. My son loves water. But will have juice every so often with like lunch. But it has tons of sugar in it. Same with tea. They definitely don’t need it.

Milk (formula or breast milk) is their main source of nutrition until 12 months old. After that they can have cows milk (or a milk alternative) as a drink.
Their tummies aren’t quite ready for it as a drink until 12 months and they need all the nutrition from the formula still.
At this age all they need is milk and water.
Juice is full of sugar and bad for their teeth and tea has caffeine in it which isn’t good for them either.
I don’t give mine juice until they are older than 2 and even then it’s small amounts.
My kids dentist said you can really tell when little ones start having juice and other drinks too young.

I give my LG water in sippy cups etc through the days so she really only has about 3 milks a day now, she’s tried other stuff like juice etc but only in small doses and I’ll wean her onto cow milk after 1 - do what makes you happy and what you think is right! My Lg was 2 months premature and I started weaning at 4 months and the drs are all absolutely amazed at her progress, I just went with her so I’d say you can give her water and then try other things and go from there 💖

It’s fine for them to drink milk into toddler years!

I changed my son at 10 months to cows milk and good with all the vitamins and stuff he needs as long as they are getting everything they need out of the food your giving them I don’t see the issue

Avatar

Personally I wouldn’t, it full of all the nutrients and vitamins they need. Once they go under a certain amount of formula they should have vitamins. I would continue until at least 12 months x

We have been giving our 10 month old cordial. We ended up in a&e last month with dehydration and the Dr gave us some completely sugar free cordial called Torvil I think. I bought some on amazon it has instructions for making it for toddlers on the pack. I think it's actually made for diabetics but the Dr said its absolutely fine as long as their drinking.

Just to make everyone aware he is still having formula. I have started adding an oz of full fat milk into his bedtime bottle as the Dr suggested in preparation for the change over at 1. I believe he said by 11.5 months you can be giving them 50/50 formula/ whole milk in their bottles if they are having 3 meals a day. My lo has his water bottle to sip throughout the day.
