Pineapple

Is it true that it’s unsafe to eat pineapples in early pregnancy?
Or can I safely ignore what I’m hearing from someone?

I’ve never heard that and been pregnant twice!

As far as I’m aware it’s safe.
I ate it through my first trimester and so far baby is fine.
I go off what the NHS website says to avoid, anything else I assume is rubbish 😂

I heard that but it was a huge craving during early pregnancy so I was eating it like crazy! No issues. 36+2 now.

It’s not listed on the NHS list of foods to avoid. I looked it up online when I was pregnant and read that it’s an old wives’ tale. Enjoy your pineapple! 😊

I’ve heard it’s not safe. It’s something that can be used to start labour as the enzyme bromelian can trigger labour and soften the cervix.

You’d have to eat like 50 for it to have any effect, don’t worry.

I craved it so much in my first trimester and ate it loads - had no issues at all. It’s just an old wives tale I believe.

Why is this marked as sensitive content??

Avatar

No idea, but I ate a whole one a few days before I gave birth and my birth was very quick though of course no idea if there's any correlation 😅

I’ve heard it’s good at encouraging your cervix to soften, but it won’t cause it to. So basically if your cervix was already naturally softening, it would help the process, but since it’s not, it has no effect. Hopefully that makes sense 😅

You have to eat like 6 whole pineapple straight for it to have the potential effect. So if you want some pineapple it isn’t going do anything unless you plan on eating 6+ haha so you’ll be fine

All I could eat was fruit (watermelon and pineapple) for my morning sickness for ages and ages. You’d have to eat a huge amount of pineapple to induce labour, you’d probably end up vomiting before Labour happened! It’s not on the NHS list of foods to avoid. It’s just an old wives tale. Eat away!

this enzyme does in fact exist in pineapple! The good news is, the highest amount exists in the core so we don’t consume it anyway ☺️

I’ve heard mixed about it. Supposedly if you were to eat a lot of it it can dilate ur cervix but I don’t know how much of it is true. I was obsessed with it just before I found out I was pregnant and I’m not worried to have any now😂😂
