Hi everyone,
Might be a bit of a random post π but not sure if this is normal or the nursery I send my baby to needs pulling up on hygiene standards.
My baby started in September and has been poorly every week since with one thing or another. Colds, he's had 2 sickness bugs within 3 weeks of one another and the second one lasted almost 2 weeks and he was in hospital with it. He was off nursery for 2 weeks, went back and then picked up HFM and was off again last week π©
Is this normal because he's still under 1 and the time of year or do I need to speak to someone?
TIA

My 11 month old is exactly the same seems she's off more than in nursery. Not sure why I'm paying for her to be looked after me because she's ill all the time π

Normal, my girls in preschool and brought all sorts home x
this is what it's like for me and he only goes one day a week and picks up all sorts π©

My daughter goes in theee days and she seems to pick up everything ππ

I do think itβs normal for them to pick up things in nursery, theyβre now surrounded by so many people, germs and constantly putting everything in their mouths which have likely been in other kids mouths.
My LB has been ill since he started I think itβs their new normal

My son has just come out of hospital for being unwell for 2 weeks after starting nursery! Iβm so scared to send him back again!!
aww no! Hope he's on the mend! I dread sending him, I can deal with colds it's the sickness and the other illnesses. He's just starting to be himself again after HFM and he's due to go on Wednesday. Feel like not sending him π

Normal for children who attend nursery. Theyβre building their immune system at that age too

Yip happened with us aswell! My wee girl goes twice a week by the time the weekend ends she is better & before you know it she is not well again xx

Iβve been told to expect this for the first 5 months or so, at least until it gets warm again!!

Completely normal when children are in contact with other children.
Positives is that the immune system is developing.

My daughter has been going full time since September (5days). She's never had a break since starting. Infection and infection, sickness bugs, D&V, coughs and colds. It's never ending. She's had 12 nursery days off ill. She's under the paediatrician, I mentioned that she's constantly fighting something and ended up with preventative treatment as she had sensitive Airways (common in babys that were born with cleft lip). Feel like I'm paying for her to be ill, and not actually there π©
My son had a paediatric appointment last Friday and I mentioned he was poorly every time he goes and she didn't seem bothered π© he is on the small side for his age so not sure if that's not anything to do with it or not. But I get how you're feeling! He's back to himself just in time to go back to nursery tomorrow ππ

Sadly very normal. We've been told by multiple Dr's and specialists to expect the first winter/6 months to be the worst for bugs and to be perpetually ill. It can take that long for the immune system to get a bit loaded up. Those that go full time can be over it quicker, but not always. These places are glorified petri dishes unfortunately π« π€£
We only do one baby group a week and she's been sick constantly since September π we do have some issues with our immune system that are being monitored but so far it's all working correctly so π€ but it's a bloody nightmare π€£ xx
