I'm just looking for some advuce/tips, My 11 week old has really bad reflux, she's on aptimil reflux milk which is thicker but it still seems to bother her. She still brings up milk/acid from her stomach and makes a horrible face and gags randomly. We've been to the doctors and they are as good as useless.
Things we have tried:
Thicker milk
Sitter her up after feeds for atleast 30-45 minutes
Feeding her more upright
Little and often when feeding
Is thete anything else anyone would recommend doing that helped there little one? I hate seeing her like this and it's emotionally and mentally draining on me.

Have you asked about a prescription for infant gaviscon? It can cause constipation but it is meant to really work. (my sister had a baby with awful reflux). Somtimes you just have to tell the doctors what you want. Hope it's sorted soon!

Have you tried the anti-colic and anti- reflux tommee tippee bottles. They work wonders for my babies reflux!! X

We got prescribed Gaviscon and it has worked wonders for my little girl. She’s been on it since she was 5 weeks old, she’s now 12 weeks. She’s not even suffered any constipation in that time either. Which I was expecting since everyone says it causes constipation

@Mary Yes tried that, gave her constipation, stopped working after about a week

do they do anti reflux bottles?x

@Jade Yes we have tried that, worked for a bit but gave her really bad constipation

My little girl was the same, she’s in Omeprazole liquid now and it works wonders. I had to go to an out of hours doctor to get it prescribed as my original doctor wouldn’t prescribe it as it’s “too expensive” but my health visitor really pushed for us to be prescribed it

We had this and switched to the medela calma bottles they do have a weird looking teat but they act like breastfeeding so baby cannot gulp as much. Found them so helpful for our little one after trying mam and Tommee tippee at the lowest teat with no luck!

Carobel has worked wonders combined with everything you have mentioned you do.

I'd never planned on introducing one but giving our little one a dummy was so useful. Our doctor recommended it and it worked wonders. Also where we could we inclined him for sleeping!

Currently going through the exact same thing with my 12 week old atm. We've had issues all the way through so far. Nothing seems to work and just keep getting conflicting advice from different health professionals. It's that bad he's currently in the bottom percentile on his growth chart. We've tried gaviscon, LF milk and carabel (thickener) so far. Pediatrician says he's being over fed and should only be having 115ml every 4 hours but HV and the feeding team said he needs to be having around 160-180ml per feed as he's losing weight 😫 drs said he has bad reflux, spoke to a pharmacist and they said it sounds like an allergy issue. It's just mega frustrating. Started aptamil pepti 1 this evening and he's been the slightest bit sick for 1 feed out of 4 so far. Best hes been for weeks xx

This may sound like a silly question but has your LO got tongue tie my little man does and according to the feeding specialist I was told it causes/makes reflux worse may be worth getting looked at you may have already but just putting it out there hope you manage to get some help with the reflux 💕

awww sorry to hear. MAM also do the anti colic bottles that lottie mentioned. Maybe worth a shot. Sounds awful 😢 poor baby (and poor you!) x

Yeah, my baby has had reflux since birth and is now 10 weeks. They are marketed as anti colic but are also anti Reflux. They have worked well for us!

Go to the GP and demand gaviscon. If they be an ass about it then it would be helpful to get in touch with your HV.
If gaviscon does not work then the next step is omeprazole for infants.
Sometimes reflux can be caused due to how immature the babies digestive system is. We bought colief Drops that contain lactase (enzyme) to break down lactose making it more digestible and easier on babies tummy.
We also use NUK bottles which have worked a treat for our little one.

@Daniella what's that? We've tried lactose free milk, colief, gaviscon, 2 milk changes. It's really hard.

What's that and where do I get it from?

She won't take a dummy, we've tried so many times. She gags on it

Oh bless you, that must be so hard for you x

@Hannah I'm not sure? How do I tell, I've looked at symptoms she has a small amount of them, but she's gaining weight still, feeding well etc

@Mary But will get be able to get any milk out of it as she's on the thicker milk

@Sajida Nessa we've tried gaviscon but made her constipated, we are now on thicker milk which makes her constipated but colief in the milk seems to help her go

Thank you, she's on thicker milk though so will she still be able to get it

Yeah she should do. It has a tube that removes air from the milk and helps the baby take less air while drinking. It makes my baby more farty and burp more. He is only sick if the milk is too warm. If you tip the bottle upside down and it only drips out, that's how he takes it best. If it shoots out, he is sick after the bottle. It's all trial and error. You are doing so well!!

it’s on Amazon. Just type Carobel. You mix with hot water then add the formula. It’s helped so much

I'd imagine it would be okay with a bigger teat maybe.

What is it though?

@Lottie We did have a look at them but they had alot of bad reviews for leaking? That's fine by me, she's not the easiest to wind. She screams blue murder!

@Lottie Thank you, can normal tommee tippee teats fit on there or would I have to buy the size 2/medium flow seperate

thank you x

they don't leak for us. He dribbles lots with them. So we use bibs to keep him clean. He hates being burped too but we have found if you burp him straight after the bottle comes out of his mouth, he burps instantly. You will have to buy new number 2 teats as they are different to the normal bottles and don't have a hole in the top.

Amazing thank you for your help x
