Has anyone’s little one had chickenpox? My girl is covered in red spots and she’s not sleeping because she keeps waking up to itch them. Going to the pharmacy later to get all the creams they recommend but I just wanted other peoples experiences. How long did it last? What helped them the most? I also have a newborn (5 weeks) so I’m petrified of her giving them to him 🫠

We're just out the other side of it! Started Friday, he wouldn't sleep at all. Spots came Saturday and they'd blistered by Saturday night. We'd gotten 11 hours sleep this weekend in total but thankfully he seemed to turn a corner yesterday. His spots are about 70% dry now and he's back to his usual self.
Get calamine lotion and put on whenever he seems itchy, aveeno oats for an oat bath, this helped give him a couple of hours sleep in the evenings. Calpol 4x per day and piriton 1+year morning and night x

Oh also ye usually sleeps in a vest, babygrow/pjs and a 2.5 sleeping bag on with temp 21 but doctor advised to keep his room cool and light clothing. So we went up a size in pjs, took off the sleeping bag and set the room to 19.5 and he slept better with that x
that’s interesting, thank you! My girl is the same but in a 1.5tog sleep bag, when I got her up this morning she did feel a bit hot x

You're welcome! It was like having a newborn though this weekend, he would sleep for 2/3 hours then be up until 4am all itchy 😩 he does sleep better when it's warm and the temp in his room drops to 18 at night anyway but he definitely slept better it being cooler. Good luck! X
yeah it’s not a good mix with a newborn as well, I’m running on 2 hours sleep this morning 🤣 how do us mum’s do it x

With my little girl I gave her salt baths, not over powering with salt though and calamine lotion the salt baths just helped dry them up and it worked wonders for her they wasn’t about for long🙂

My LG had them when she was 10 months old! 3 weeks before she was a flower girl for her auntie 🙈🤣. I used aveeno oat bath soak for babies which helped so much!! I bathed her twice a day in it to help the itching. The scabs lasted for about 3 weeks xx

My boy had it end of October.
All spots where after a week they then blistered and started to scab during the second week. After the second week they were prettt much gone! We used calomile lotion which I kept in the fridge, and I alternated it with virasooth. Everyone I changed his nappy I would apply something to the spots. After they scabbed I applied AVST gel and that stopped them scarring. I'm a beauty therapist so have lots of lotions and potions 😂

Also only give calpol not ibuprofen as that can make scarring worse
When you applied the calamine lotion did it bother your babies? I dab it on using cotton wool and she screams and cries as if it’s hurting her? 😭
we brought that bath soak today and gave her a bath using it tonight 🤞🏼 how long did it take for them to scab over? She’s supposed to be meeting “Santa” next week 😭

It didn't take that long after using the soak, I'd say after a week alot had scabbed but it took about 2 weeks for the scabs to come off. Some stayed for weeks on her forehead and her head but they weren't contagious x
