How many lessons did you take or would you recommend?

I’m about to book my test. There were no available slots in my local test centre for months! But I’ve just seen a slot for January 25th. the thing is I’ve only taken a few lessons in October then I stopped because I couldn’t afford them. Now I’ve started again and only had 2 lessons so far and the rest are for after Christmas. My instructor agreed to give me lessons in January before my test however I’m worried if they will be enough? Don’t you need to take lessons for a few months before you go for your test? I don’t want to fail as I really need a car to get around! 😭

I think it’s down to how fast you learn. I started mine in October and wouldn’t be ready in January. But go you! Hope you are able to x

I would ask your instructor if they think you’re ready for a test! They’ll give you a honest awnser as it’s their reputation if you fail! Keep your test for now and then just keep checking constantly throughout the day see if you can get a test for feb or march just to get you abit more experience! Or maybe 2 lessons a week if possible and stick to the January date??

@Halle are you doing manual or automatic?

I am doing manual x

@Sophie I forgot to mention my theory expires in march. I could cancel it but there’s no guarantee I will get another test before my theory expires because it’s already taken me months to book this test. The waiting times are ridiculous.

I wouldn’t cancel it without having another booked in for sure!! I found most of the nearer dates were added around midday!

If you can’t get another date within the cancellation period of the test you have booked then I’d just give it ago anyway before your theory expires!! It took my partner 3 months of 1 lesson a week and passed first time but it took me a year and 3 attempts so it’s just down to how fast you pick it up!

@Sophie did you both do automatic or manual? Is it possible to book another? Like have 2 tests booked at the same time? I don’t think you can do that I think you can only rearrange the date

@Sophie I think I’m just going to go for it and see what happens.

Honestly like 60 lessons 😂😂 I think the average is around 40-45 though going by Google.

Manual! Nope you can’t have 2 at the same time but you can check for other available dates from your driving test email

I believe you have to have a minimum of 10 hours of lesson to take a test but averagely you need 30 hours (ish)

@Colette nobody has the money for that many lessons these days 😂 I’m paying £75 per lesson and can’t even afford that

@Sophie thanks I’ll check that out

@Kate by my test date I would’ve done around 10 or 12 😭 I hope it’s enough
