Potty training

I need to read up on potty training but just wanted to ask moms here, when do you know when your child is ready to potty train? My son is only 15 months old and he is starting to announce his poops and will cry “poo poo dirty” 🥺 I’ve never scolded him for pooping and always say “good job, you poo-pooed!” to avoid him having bad feelings with pooping. He does poop pretty regularly every morning after breakfast. I am thinking of starting to potty train once he starts walking, which seems like soon! Is it too early? Any tips or advice?

My 14.5 month old says poo & then will hand me wipes when she’s done pooping, attempts to take her diaper off through her clothes & for bath time she takes her diaper off majority of the time she’s been walking for a few months now I think I’m just nervous 😂 I know I’ve read up on something on how to get them potty trained in 3 days

It’s not too early! Especially if they’re already telling you when they’re going to poop. My daughter (15m) is getting her potty for Christmas and I’m going to start just putting her on it straight away & she doesn’t tell me when she’s going yet! so I’d go for it! Average age i think is 18 months but doesn’t hurt to start a lil earlier if they seem ready

@Stacey Do you think a potty is needed? I have a seat that goes on my toilet. I don't want to buy a potty and have to clean it. I'd rather he just go in the normal toilet.

@Sam interested in this question too! I also prefer not having to clean a potty bowl.. 😵 I’ve heard that some babies are scared of the toilet (falling into it) so we might just need to try it out and see how baby does

@Sam you can TOTALLY just put him on the regular toilet! :) The only benefits of the small one is they can sit on it themselves and it’s the right size for them; Less intimidating. but and long as you have a good seat that’s the right size & prevents them from falling in, you should be totally fine!! And you can eventually get a little stool so they can climb up themselves when they’re ready for that.

All trial and error so do what’s best for you & you can always go from there :)

I would highly recommend checking out this video, I learned so much just by this one video for potty training, I am gonna start trying as well, just gonna get the items needed for it first.

I agree with @Danielle I am working on potty training my son who is 15 months and there is a book called Go diaper Free that is a guide

I want to get the process started for sure. Mine has never cared about getting her diaper changed so I don't think she will have much motivation haha.
