Can anyone advise a realistic amount of nappy’s I will need on average for each growth stage in the first year? I’ve heard you don’t need that many nappy’s for the new born phase as they grow quickly but still unclear how many this means
Sorry I’m a first time mum and don’t know many other mums that can advise so any help would be appreciated xx

I feel like there are too many variables to really answer this with any accuracy. It depends on your baby, the brand of the nappy, fit of the nappy, how often they go, how often you change them. A newborn is changed like 8-10 times a day. It gets a bit less as they get older but some days it’s more than others!
I’m wondering on average how many packs I will need for new born stage / 1-2months stage/ 2-3 months stage etc or what you might of experienced with your LO, I know not all babies will be the same but I’m just after approx amount xxx

I initially bought two boxes of pampers size 1 and a small pack for the hospital bag, and then after that I switched to a cheaper brand and just bought them as and when I needed them, so I don’t really know how many we went through tbh. We’ve switched brands a few times too as we’ve sized up. Sorry I can’t be more help!

We used size 1 from birth till 2 months. Still in size 2 now at almost 5 months

Just curious why you need to know the amount for each stage? Are you buying them in advance?
I honestly can’t remember how many I went through for each stage. Newborn size 0 we went through about 10 a day but can’t remember at what point we moved to size 1, and so on. It depends on so many things: how often your baby needs changing, how quickly they grow, what nappy brand suits them.
I would just buy size 0 and once you think baby has grown and needs the next size up you buy the next size. It goes by weight so it’s easy to know. Plus you’ll see if the nappy is fitting them well etc.

My boy went straight into size 1 and skipped size 0! He was born at 9lb 3oz and the size 1 nappies lasted him about 3 weeks before we had to move up to size 2. We just moved him up again to size 3 at 9 weeks old (he was weighed at 10 weeks as 14lb 1oz). I would say he averaged about 12 nappies a day for the first 4 weeks, but that has dropped to around 8-10 nappies a day as he has less night time wakings now so is being changed less at night. I would just buy a couple of packs of size 1 and see where you go from there! I wouldn't try to bulk buy in advance as you'll probably end up with loads left over that have become too small - they grow so bloody fast at the beginning!
