Hi, does anyone know how long breastmilk that’s been refrigerated will last once taken out and brought to room temperature?

Rule of 4s is what I've always been told. 4 hours at room temp. 4 days in the fridge. Or 4 months in the freezer. However. I think this is very strict for high risk little ones like very young or sick or immune issues etc. So if its been 5 hours, I'll give it to my 1 year old, but I dont push the limits too much just to be on the safe side.

Those are the guidelines from LaLecheLeague. Here's the link.

so if it’s been refrigerated it can be taken out and left out at room temp for 4 hours?

So. Again conservative timeline, I think this is what they refer to as "left over from a feeding". And that would be 2 hours. But I think this is saying that you heated the milk up rather than leaving it out and letting it come to room temperature.

I would personally use it up to 4 hours, I've done it before and my daughter has never gotten sick. But I like to provide the actual guidelines to you rather than just saying what I do. Yano? If your baby is healthy and no longer a newborn. I wouldn't stress it too much at the 4 hour mark
