Hi Mamas
Looking for feedback and personal reviews of Mums that have had their babies at Croydon Uni Hospital.
I need to move house ASAP from East London, I'm currently registered at Whipps Cross and have had all my antenatal care there. I will be 37 weeks this weekend so really crapping it and worried about my house move coinciding with babys arrival.
My options are to move in with family in Croydon and transfer my care there or stay in the local area will need to find temp accommodation and stay with Whipps Cross
I have a few health issues and Gestational Diabetes, controlled by diet but my midwife has agreed I can have a water birth and go on till 40+4 for natural birth.
Any mums have experience of GD & water birth at Croydon as I know not all hospitals allow a water birth if you have GD.
Also feedback on the midwifery and medical team, any feedback and personal experiences would be so helpful.
I know I could technically give birth any day now so this isn't ideal 😫 and need to make a decision at the very latest by this weekend if I move to Croydon or not.

I had my daughter there 6 years ago by elective c-sec and I was really unhappy with the aftercare on the ward.
Nobody was willing to help me with breastfeeding (I didn't have a clue at the time) and my daughter went hours after being born before she fed and even then they just told me to formula feed.
I also wasn't impressed with the health visitors under Croydon. Blunt, rude and made me feel like 💩
I've gone under PRUH now for my 2nd pregnancy x

I had my daughter at C.U.H. in December and I had GD as well.
Leading up to my delivery my midwife was amazing so helpful and caring (shout out to Matilda). During early labour my blood sugar dropped really low and everyone was so attentive and on top of everything.
After delivery, they listened to what I wanted regarding delayed cord cutting, not wiping/cleaning off the vernix, breastfeeding right away and the golden hour. I was so pleased they helped me with the latching process then left us to bond and rest.
I was pretty vocal about my preferences though and had an overall good experience. If you do transfer to Croydon, make sure you have your birth plan and preferences vocalized and you'll be fine.
Best of luck mama!

I am not sure about the care at Croydon university hospital however I am planned to have my baby at St George’s hospital so far they have been great ! I known many people to have babies there with positive experiences and it’s about 20 minutes from Croydon

To cut a long story short, they have helped me heal from my traumatic first birth at St George’s in Tooting. I had my second child at Croydon university hospital and honestly from start to finish and even now 2 months later they have been so supportive especially the mental health team I can’t fault them

My 2 year old was born at St George’s and fell unwell when she was brought home after birth, we took her to Croydon university and they tested her and told us she had sepsis they were very effective with how they handled it the nurses on the ward were so helpful especially as I was a first time mum having to stay at the hospital on my own with a new sick baby they helped me with everything I honestly cannot fault them at all I don’t understand why the hospital has such a bad reputation they’ve been so helpful for me and my family
