Hi everyone here I am up at the crack of dawn again because little one (15 months old) is ill. She is in nursery Tuesday-Friday since Sept 23 and I kid you not doesn’t skip a week of catching something - hand foot mouth, cough, temperature, loose poo, chicken pox, rash etc. you name it she had it.
The thing is I am also back to work full time and I just need some reassurance that I’m not alone.
We had her home for three weeks and not a single infection she’s only been to nursery for two days and is back ill again. I get it it’s her first winter and all but every week 🥺 is this normal…
Forgot to mention nursery seems to think it’s ok for her to be left bare feet on the floor because “she keeps taking her socks off” ( but that’s a rant for another day)

Do you give her probiotics? X

I’m not there yet with my little one but as I understand from friends, this is totally normal!

A lot of times the first year of daycare (nursery) is when they’ll get sick most, after they’ve been in a daycare for a year then they may still pick up illnesses but it shouldn’t be so frequently.
My experience was different when my oldest went to daycare BUT I heard the above from a nurse friend and from other moms as well.

yes she takes Panda probiotic, Abidec vitamins and Sambukol elderberry syrups 🥺

ahhh okay perfect! Xx

Completely normal especially for little one’s first cold/flu season in school. Next year will be better since they will have been exposed to everything. Also barefoot is actually good for babies and toddlers as it improves sensory development.

I was just about to say probiotics and vitamins to keep her immune up, my little one was the same I got to the point where I was like what am I sending her in for. It does get better you come out the other side now my little girl hardly gets ill she is now
Three xx

Little girl has been in since she was 6 month old which was January last year, in her first week she caught Scarlett fever and has had colds, temps, loose bum and a continuous snotty nose. It’s just a breeding ground for bugs sadly, but you definitely aren’t alone in it.
In terms of socks my girls the same soon as she arrives she seems to take her shoes and socks off and is always in bare feet, even tights she takes off will not keep anything on her feet unless outside xx

I work in childcare and majority of children get sick every second day eheheheheh it is very normal, now my suggestions is to talk to your doctor and see if the diet or vitamins can help the immune systems.
Barefoot is very normal too, hopefully in the next couple of years she will be stronger than now

Same with my son. First year in nursery and always sick. The latest is norovirus!

I’m not there yet but I’ve taken my little girl to baby classes 3/4 times a week and actually stopped sterilising her toys for that reason. Sometimes it actually quite healthy to build up their immune system. Not to say it will help but I’ll try anything as I’m back at work full time myself in March x

Kids are walking talking snot monsters, ive got high school kids and primary kids and they also pick up everything as soon as they go back into school. Sep -dec is the worst.

My little one is with a childminder but this winter I’ve had the same issue. Between November and now she’s had a sick bug, 3 different colds and coughs, tonsillitis, hand foot and mouth and I must have taken at least 4 weeks off work in total.
I also work in a nursery and see it happen with most children when they start. It’s so frustrating but know your not alone. We just have to ride it out. Spring is on its way and hopefully by next winter their immune systems will pick up. I feel you 💖

I work in a preschool and it is very normal, I’m 25 weeks and I’ve been ill pretty much since the start with all the coughs and colds going around

The first 3 months are dreadful 😪

If it didn't happen now, it would happen when she starts school. It's very very normal. And being barefoot is way better for your kids development. If you want the socks to stay on, send her in tights.
Unfortunately it's what happens when you put a group of 10 babies who snot cough sneeze share food slobber on toys ect in a room together. It gets better after the first year. It's nothing to do with cleanliness of the nursery.

This is very common at daycare in general. I remember when my kiddos first started daycare they always had colds, fevers, rhino virus rotovirus etc. I would keep her fully hydrated make sure she takes something for immunity depending on the temperature keep her bundled up provide cold medicine as needed and frequently check ups to make sure there is no severe illness spreading with in the nursery. These are my advices as a mom you are not alo💗

well said

that is a good idea 👍

Thank you all that makes me feel much better and more relaxed about it 🙏
